As per yesterday's streaming partnership news for the Overwatch League with Twitch comes the official kick-off of the first season with 12 teams representing major cities in Asia, Europe, and North America. Already off to a good start, viewer numbers for today's matches have so far been sitting around the 300,000 mark.
Planet Coaster is a creator's dream. Not only a competent and fully functional theme park simulator, it also offers players the ability to customise and create just about anything they can imagine. Which has led to a number of jaw-dropping creations, including this one from YouTuber Hin Nya. An immersive and truly impressive 15-minute thrill ride inspired by James Cameron's Aliens.
Cyberpunk 2077, the future-set RPG developed by CD PROJEKT RED, has been a long time coming. It was teased years ago. Since then the developer has occasionally confirmed that sure, it's still in development, offering a few details. But as of now we still don't have a firm release window, or any real ideas of how it will look or play. Though, that might be changing soon thanks to a very sly new tweet.
Just in time for Australia Day. Even though I'm a fan of the excellent Forza 7, my personal preference for Forza still lies with the fun open-world racing of the Horizon series. And with Forza Horizon 3 being one of the best racing games we've ever played (that, and it's set in a fictional version of Australia) the 4K Xbox One X Enhanced patch is one that we've been waiting for since our consoles arrived late last year.
Having played an earlier version of the excellent DUSK, this retro-inspired shooter is more than the sum of its very old-school presentation. With excellent controls reminiscent of Quake and great level design that reminds me a bit of Hexen and Heretic, DUSK hits Steam Early Access later today. Which give players access to the first two Episodes.
With 2017 now officially over, thanks to our overlord The Calender, it’s time to look to the future. The near future, and what digital interactive gems it might bring. With so many great games released last year, even without whatever Bethesda has in store for 2018, or Nintendo, this year is looking to be chock full of great games. Here are our picks for what we’re excited to check out.
We were a little late to party when it came to the original Life is Strange. The small town adventure game that blended time-bending sci-fi concepts with high-school drama. Needless to say we were blown away by just how memorable, engaging, and, well, awesome it was. Which meant that we were definitely excited to play the new prequel series Life is Strange: Before the Storm.
Live Streams aren't usually my thing, but in the case of a grand event held by Unknown Worlds for Subnatica, I'll make an exception.
The game is finally releasing later this month, and the studio that has been building this 'thing' (because it is a MONSTER of design), wants you to truly see what they've done for open-world, adventure, fantasy gaming.
Or very own Hogfather, Nathan McCarthy, is back with another hardware review this time for the excellent HyperX Alloy FPS Pro compact mechanical keyboard. Hot on the heels of the announcement of HyperX going RGB in 2018 - it's a friendly reminder that the hardware maker is a name to keep an eye on when it comes to PC peripherals.
