With all these Monkey Island reboots and new episodes floating around, alongside new IP entries in the form of Schafer's Brutal Legend and more recently, Ron Gilbert's DeathSpank, no one would have held it against you for wondering if the original comedy dream team were back together. Or at least hope they might be.

Well hope no more as Kotaku reports just that - Double Fine has officially hired Gilbert, and in typical fashion, the two seem to be firing on all comedic and creative cylinders.

"We're already brainstorming about it together," Schafer told the site about Gilbert's new project. "I expect to be brainstorming a lot with Ron and helping to put the team together."

"It's an idea that I've been batting around for many, many years," Gilbert added of the project. "I've been talking to Tim over the last couple of months about it and it sort of percolated back up. It's very different than DeathSpank, it's a bit of a departure from that. It's going in a very interesting direction - fans of those old adventure games will like it."

What could it possibly be, and how long will we have to wait?

It came out in October last year, and was pretty awesome (albeit too short).

yeah I was really hoping we'd get some single-player DLC, but it was only multiplayer which, to be honest, I didn't *really* get that in to
