After the
initial rumours about Pandemic Studios in Brisbane, we've received confirmation that the studio has now officially been shut down. We're expecting a formal announcement a little later.
Sad news for the many employees of what was one of the biggest success stories in Australian game development and it is a blow to the local scene in general. Best of luck to all the staff.

Seems a shame they cant continue, spose now they have been released from EA, someone would have had to pay the wages and other bills to keep going, and I spose there isnt a heap of money being thrown around by investors at the moment.
Here's an Idea for them if they want to start a new Gaming studio, make a Wii cricket game that doesnt suck.

? I'd assume title and the any rights to any royalties will be sold like any other company asset.
Bad news guys :(

In this case, money from the distributor for titles developed by Pandemic studios would probably be going to EA... except that EA only bought them a year or so back so older Pandemic titles might have different deals with other publishers if there's prior obligations.
In any case, I think this is just the Brisbane branch being closed down, not all of Pandemic Studios, so I guess money would be going from the shop to the distributor to EA (if they're not the distributor), who own Pandemic Studios. At which point EA would probably be holding onto it to slow the slide of their stock price (Looks like they peaked at $60 in Dec07 and they're now down to $16.84)
That's a rough guess based on my understanding, but don't worry there'll be plenty of people with their hands out if revenue is still coming in.

never heard of 'em

As part of the purchase, EA collects all of Pandemic's royalties, so THQ would be paying EA for any sales trickle from DAH, and I believe Take 2 would be paying EA for any sales trickle (hah!) from AMRTS for Gamecube since they bought the IP rights from 3DO when they went bust.

1. It wasn't amazingly witty, really.
2. You should be gracious and flattered rather than angry or upset. Nobody's getting between you and your diesel in this thread! :P

DAH2 is still selling copys as well lol.
There is also the work that was done from several projects that never saw the light of day unfortunatly, yet they look absolutley incredible.
