Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake started out as a seemingly simple project, recreating the classic action game with some modern visual improvements. Several delays and a development studio change has seen the game become something of a no-show with pre-orders now being refunded in full.
But Ubisoft has updated this FAQ page to assure fans that the remake is still coming.
State of the game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is not cancelled. The game is currently in development at Ubisoft Montréal.
Other remakes in the series Beyond Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time there are currently no plans to remake any other Prince of Persia title.
Release date At the moment, a new release date has not been set, we will provide new information on that front when we are ready.
Pre-order cancellations Since the game currently does not have a release date, existing pre-orders have been cancelled and refunded where applicable. Pre-orders may reopen once a new release date for the game has been announced.
And with that Ubisoft provided a response to PC Gamer adding that it will no longer ship in FY23 (which ends March 31, 2023). But with no release date or window it might be a while as there are indications that Ubisoft Montréal has restarted the remake process from scratch.
So this trailer from the September 2020 reveal is probably not what the final game will look like.
