With Vikings being the flavour of the past number of years across all forms of media, reach of the historical culture in games can now be seen through almost all genres. Whether it's in huge, cinematic form like the recent God of War Ragnarok or in any number of Indies looking to make their mark through pillage, conquest or by the Norse gods, Viking culture and all that comes with it continues to be ripe for the pickings.

Today, a new saga enters the Viking vale by way of Land of the Vikings, a city builder that makes its debut on Steam Early Access and promises all of the hallmarks of Vikingdom to partake in.

In Land of the Vikings, players take on the role of the Jarl (Chieftain) of a new Viking village. A wise Jarl must manage resources, survive harsh conditions and enemy raids, and guide their fellow Vikings to work together through social conflict. Players must expand their village into a thriving city, but they are not entirely on their own. Norse gods will aid them with various rewards in return for their worship.
You can grab the game now for a respectable $26-odd dollars via Steam. Developer Laps Games has no timeline on when the game will switch to a full retail release, but as stated on its Steam game page, Laps will be using the game's time in EA to work with the community and feedback to build the best experience possible.
