Sony is gearing up, literally, with its new INZONE brand of gear targeting both PC and PlayStation players. It's the former that serves as the foundation for the announcement of three new Sony INZONE headsets that that will leverage the company's "expertise as a pioneer of audio-visual technology, delivering features that will immerse gamers into the action with total focus".

Interestingly, these come from Sony direct and don't fall under the PlayStation banner - though the visual design is pure PlayStation. Targeting PC also means this is a definite big play, as it sees Sony enter the highly competitive PC audio space where several brands have found success over the years. Sony has a long history of focusing on high-quality audio, and the goal here is to deliver gaming audio perfect for the competitive scene and esports.

Plus, they can leverage the excellent spatial/surround found on PlayStation 5 (on PC it's called 360 Spatial Sound) and the industry leading active-noise cancellation found across Sony headphones. On that front the INZONE headsets feature the same Dual Noise Sensor Technology used in Sony 1000X series headphones.

The headsets come in three flavours and will be available in Australia from late July 2022.

INZONE H9: $449.95 AUD

Precise target detection with 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming and advanced technology optimising acoustics, Game for hours with comfortable headband and earpads, Noise Cancelling and Ambient Sound Mode, 32 hours of battery lifeiv and a 10-minute quick charge offers up to an hour game time.

INZONE: H7: $349.95 AUD

INZONE H3: $149.95 AUD

In addition to out-of-the box "Perfect for PlayStation 5" functionality the PC side will be supported with Sony's INZONE Hub PC software for in-depth customisation.

"The market has been expanding with a higher interest in gaming with the spread of esports tournaments and the advancement of gaming entertainment," said Yukihiro Kitajima, Head of Game Business and Marketing Office, Sony Corporation. "With Sony’s strong history of high-end audio and visual technology products, we believe this new line will offer even more options for those looking to upgrade their current gaming systems. We are committed to contributing to the growth of gaming culture by providing PC and PlayStation gamers with a wider range of options to enrich lives through gaming."

With PlayStation games coming to PC in a big way recently (and Spider-Man is on the horizon) the addition of hardware no doubt confirms Sony's commitment to platform going forward.
