As part of an extended documentary on Arkane, Noclip got an extended look at the studio's cancelled Half-Life spin-off called Ravenholm. Half-Life 2 fans will of course remember the location, and Father Grigori, as being a memorable detour into almost survival horror. In addition to capturing that same tone Ravenholm was also looking at adding electricity, and the controlling of it, for both combat and puzzle solving.

It's a fascinating, and extended look at a cancelled game. We're told that it was cancelled before the story and cinematic side was finalised, but there's definitely a lot here. The electricity stuff as a whole is fascinating and very Arkane in how it utilises physics across combat and environmental exploration.

It's a shame the project never came together as what we see here definitely looks like a great cross between Dishonored and Half-Life. And really, that's the sort of combination we'd love to see in any form. Development on Ravenholm occurred around the time we were all expecting to see Half-Life 2: Episode 3, and no doubt in some alternate timeline/universe we'd be talking about our memories of both.
