As part of today's Nintendo Direct, Lord and Emperor of all Living Things, Shiggy Miyamoto, made an appearance in relation to the Super Mario Bros. animated movie being done with Illumination (Dispicable Me). And while His Highness had nothing visual to share, he did reveal who would be bringing a handful of the movie's characters to life.

And as you may have already guessed from that headline, it's all lead by Chris Pratt (Jurassic World, Guardians of the Galaxy) who is voicing Mario.

Yep, Mario.

Joining the very odd choice of Pratt for Mario is the decidedly better castings of Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch), Charlie Day (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Jack Black (everything, ever) as Peach, Luigi and Bowser, respectively. Additionally, Charles Martinet, who has voiced Mario and many other Nintendo characters over the journey, and who is also a personal hero, will be appearing throughout the movie in many cameo roles, Miyamoto revealed.

Unfortunately only those names were unveiled, alongside December 2022 as its intended release date, with no teaser images or vision at all. Which is even worse, because now we're forced to try and *imagine* Pratt as Mario. And... I just can't.

Here, cleanse the distorted imagery out of your head with the below.

Also, sure that Mario Bros movie from the 90s can almost be considered cyberpunk in genre :P
