Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition saw the third entry in the long running series get a visual make-over from Xbox Game Studios’ World’s Edge and Melbourne developer Tantalus Media. Not only a remaster it saw an overhaul of the narrative and toned down the, well, colonial tone of the original. As we've seen with the Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition this also means new content, with today bringing two brand-new civilizations, the Ethiopians and the Hausa of Africa.
Which make their debut in the sizeable The African Royals update -- which includes three all-new Historical Battles, 15 new African maps, and new Indigenous African Civilizations. Plus new buildings, units, and 'Age Up' rewards.
With the two new civilizations—the Ethiopians and Hausa—construct a Palace to recruit Mercenaries, Alliance units, Imported Artillery, or the new Gatling Camel! Build a Granary to lure huntables and boost your food gathering, or a Livestock Market to trade Sanga and Zebu Cattle for wood or coin. Be crafty with your herd, as market prices will only rise and become profitable slowly over time, or go all-in with a legendary Royal Banquet, securing a generous amount of Influence for your allies!
That's right, there's a Gatling Camel. There's quite a bit in this update so for the full details on buildings, units, allies, and Home City upgrades -- head here.
