The story-driven expansion to CD Projekt RED's upcoming free-to-play card game GWENT called Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales brings a whole new single-player experience set in the world of The Witcher. With a deep character driven story set before the first Witcher game, player's take on the role of Queen Meve on the cusp of a Nilfgaard invasion.
The below footage which covers almost 40 minutes in in-game card battle action, exploration, and story - gives us our first proper look at the game. And, well, everything from the art to the animation looks incredible for what could have been a simple add-on to GWENT.
What's especially impressive is the addition of single-player only mechanics and set pieces, including giant monster battles which depict creatures across several cards. That, and the quality of the voice acting brings back fond memories of The Witcher 3.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is currently available for pre-order on GOG.com for $40.45 AUD.
