What in the High Heavens? Well, chalk this one up as a pleasant Friday surprise because we had no idea that Netflix was working with Activision Blizzard to create an animated Diablo series. Confirmation came from Boom! Studios founder Andrew "Andy" Cosby who Tweeted, "I guess I can confirm I am indeed in final talks to write and show-run the new DIABLO animated series for Activision and Netflix."

Adding, "It's very exciting and I hope to the High Heavens it all works out." We do too! The Tweet in question has since been deleted, which probably means that this wasn't supposed to be made public just yet.

As Andy is a well respected writer, who is behind the upcoming Hellboy reboot, this has every chance to become something special. And who knows it could tie in with the eventual release of Diablo 4 - which is still to be announced.

Diablo is one of Blizzard's longest running game franchises that began in 1996 and continues to this day. Diablo 3, which is back in the headlines thanks to an upcoming Nintendo Switch release, is the latest game in the series - with Blizzard secretly working on the next installment for a number of years now. And by secret, we mean job postings for something 'Diablo-related' have been cropping up for a while now.
