In what doubles as a good news story and a reminder that Steam's current chat client is, well, a piece of shit - comes word of a Steam Chat 2.0. Where "a richer chat experience" means the ability to create proper group chats with full multimedia embeds and uploads and shares. Plus, a revamped list for sorting by groups, favourites, and getting a better idea of what people are up to.

The new interface is great, as it allows drag-and-drop for bringing in friends to a chat and being able to create groups on the fly. Save them for future, etc. So yeah, basically Discord. As it'll also be available to use outside of the Steam client and on the web.

The All-New Steam Chat is currently available in Beta, so for access and more info - head here.
