Taking to Twitter, Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene has made it known that over 20 million copies of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds or PUBG have been sold. Which is doubly astounding when you realise it has done so in just over seven months on sale as an Early Access game.

And that number carries over the people playing the game too, with PUBG's concurrent player count record on Steam now sitting at 2,515,109 players. And just so you have an idea of just how incredible that number is, the second highest all-time peak player count is for DOTA 2 sitting at 1,291,328 players.

This one was a remorse buy for me... I tried to like it, i really did but it just didn't do it for me... I mean it's basically a hide and seek simulator with s***** graphics and laggy gameplay... I know it's early release, not finished, but it's not for me unfortunately.

I play at least 3 games a night love the gameplay the circle thing is amazing it stops most of the camping a******* but still has a long way to go before its Alpha ,servers are struggling to cope with all the traffic so a bit of lag here and there is expected.

8/10 IMHO

laggy gameplay...
You playing on US servers? Works mostly flawlessly for me. This has been a super fantastic purchase for me. The griefing is awesome and the circle gets rid of campers. There are some other battle royale titles out there but I prefer the simulation aspect of this a bit more. Still pre-release so I'm impressed, and they've impressed me with the progress in stability/performance over the last couple of months. I soon expect DayZ to fold as they figure out everyone who played there game has moved on to this.

I find solo play is great and hectic, but squad and duo is so much more fun.

Does it have Aussie servers?

Super keen to give it a go but bit turned off by all reports of cheating :|

Yep i only play on Oceania. Very rarely see any cheaters.

The aussie servers give decent ping. Cheating is not as common as people make it out to be. The anti-cheat client is constantly updating so while there will be spikes of cheating, it is contained fairly well. You are more likely to run into "teamers" (people working together beyond the bounds of the teams they are in).

It's fun - I am curious as to whether people predominantly play FP or 3P? The group I play with now exclusively plays First Person only.

3P because the game feels like you're a midget running around in FP. For whatever reason, it all feels f*****g retarded to me in FP mode. I prefer the game play in 3P because people can't peak corners and you actually have to be half decent, but otherwise I don't like much else about it in FP mode.

Same here. I've seen 1 speed hack and a couple of aimbots killing everyone from a hill on the centre of the map with pistols. Otherwise can't say I've come across cheats.

Rarely come across cheats
That is not possible unless you're playing at a time slot that doesn't gel with China. The game is rampant with cheating, absolutely rampant. Filthy f*****s from China have flooded the servers cheating the s*** out of everything. Their goal...earn in-game credits for in game items to sell on the Steam market; the steam market has made PUBG a lucrative market for Chinese farmers. You've got jackets and stuff selling for $200+. Bluehole don't have a clue what to do, but they're too addicted to Chinese $'s to give much of a s*** anyway. I think the comments on Steam say it all.

https://steamcommunity.com/games/578080/announcements/detail/1648749673610853303?tscn=1518003108

In over 90% of games I am killed by someone cheating and that is conservative. I'm not talking about subtle stuff here where someone gets butt hurt they died. I'm talking about blatant head snapping/spinning aim botting. Since Chinese cheating went off the charts in December and January, the PUBG player base has dropped by 50%. Battleye claim that 99% of PUBG cheats are from China. But the developers don't want to restrict the Chinese market because of the Money. Steam don't want them doing it either. Over 50% of Steam accounts now originate from China and almost all of them solely for playing PUBG.

I gave up and removed the game last night after 8 games in a row of blatant cheating.

Either you're extremely unlucky, or I'm extremely lucky!

I play a fair bit of PUBG and haven't really come across many cheaters at all. There has definintely been a few, but I've only noticed them in a minority of games from either deathcam showing blatant hacking, or the killfeed showing a name like 222233332 killing everyone.

That said, I pretty much exclusively play duos with a mate, and I get the feeling cheaters would be sticking more to solo for the greater rewards.

I don't play it, but I just saw a report yesterday that they banned 1.5 million accounts for cheating in the last month alone, so it does sound like theres a lot :(

99% of those banned are probably chinese who play on their own servers i believe.

FPP sees a lot less cheaters than TPP. And well, TPP mode is so f*****g gay its not funny, its a cheat in itself. Here we go!...............bring it on..... :)

I play FFP and love this game and play every day. I play on a 65" true 4k 4096x2160 Samsung tv in 2560x1440 resolution with most options on high except shadows and AA. Get smooth gameplay almost always at 50-60fps. (16gb ram, r9 390x 8gb, i7930 @ 3.6hgz)

The hackers used to be bad for a while but it died down and they handed out millions of bans and I haven't been killed by a hacker in weeks.

I recommend it, it really feels like every game is different.

I do and it doesn't change anything. I'm not talking about someone killing me because they were a better shot, or had a faster reaction time. This has been my experience in the past week, I like this particular clip because in the process of killing us he accidentally knocks his own team mate...got to take the small wins :)

Either you're extremely unlucky, or I'm extremely lucky!
It would seem that way, it could just be the times I play or because I mostly play TPP. In the last 2 weeks in particular things have really ramped up badly in my own experience. And looking at the game reviews, their forums, twitter, Steam, etc. I don't seem to be alone in having that experience...

I might just fully switch to FPP and ditch TPP altogether.

You won't regret it, it is so much better in First person. And fairer as well.

Tencent released their Chinese version of the game today apparently. Damn they make it look like a really good game!. Pity about the rampant cheaters, the hit box issues, the abysmal Server Tic Rates, the desync, the ganky vehicle physics, did I mention the cheaters? etc..etc.. yeh right.

PUBG Tencent style

Meanwhile Fortnite is logging 3.4 Million concurrent players a night now?? WOW.
I don't like the games aesthetics myself nor 3PP mode so I'm not interested, BUT damn if DICE used the Frostbite 4 engine to make a BR game...THEN you would see some people bailing on PUBG.

Well, the next Battlefield game is rumoured to have a Battle Royale mode, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is meant to have one too, I think PUBG is gonna find itself rapidly outclassed as the year marches on unless they do something about it

I play PUBG every night, I mainly play on the AS servers as the servers just seem less laggy and don't crash as often. I don't see that many cheats, the odd obvious ones but for the most part its usually just being outplayed that gets me killed. I don't play TPP though. Working on my solo ranking on the AS servers, trying to crack into the top 100, but its always that bad game/early death that costs ya.

Hit me up on steam if anyone is looking to play, always keen for duos and squads.

Thanks for your comment. Sorry you have had a s***** experience. As far as what is possible:

After 525 hours played, approx 90% of it during peak hour Australian time (6pm-12pm) on the Australian FPP server I have only come across two players who were definitely cheating.

How often do you get accused?
Twisted
Posted 12:03pm 06/3/18
The world moved on a month ago. Cool story though.

Nov: 100,000 banned.
Dec: 1.5m banned.
Jan: 1m banned.

That's over 10% of the player base banned in total sales not including bans from February yet which is 1 in 10 players cheating. The last patch or ban round seems to have reduced the number of cheats significantly which is good to see. Still happens, but I would say I'm seeing cheating much less of late though I also play a lot less often.

Also this matchmaking update I think change was probably a big contributor to:

"Unlike the method considered earlier, we are going to divide the matching pool depending on ping. This means that the users with lower pings will be prioritized during matchmaking. The team is expecting to improve the overall play experience by splitting the matching pool rather than restricting connection depending on ping."

Could a large percentage of those bans also been related to accounts that were afk farming points too?

fpot: I would never get accused, I am terrible at the game haha.

Took me 400 hours before I even felt any better at it than when I started :p
