And it looks pretty cool. Available this holiday season, and compatible with modern Android and iOS devices, you get a suite of interactive experiences, a headset, tracking beacon, and light-saber controller. Which means Jedi battles happening in the midst of your living room. 'Dear Santa, it's your old pal Kosta. I'd like one of these please. I've been a good boy. Mostly.' Ahem. Perhaps the coolest bit of the whole package, is the inclusion of Holochess as seen in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

Let the Wookiee win.

“We believe augmented reality will usher in a new era of storytelling and play an important role in the experiences we create for our fans,” said Kyle Laughlin, Senior Vice President, Games and Interactive Experiences, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. “With Star Wars: Jedi Challenges, we’re bringing together the latest technology and one of the most recognised franchises in the galaxy to fulfil the wishes of anyone who’s ever wanted to wield a lightsaber or take on empire forces on the battlefield.”

How it all works sounds really interesting, as the Lenovo Mirage AR headset (plus phone) pairs with a tracking sensor "equipped with two built-in fish-eye sensors to provide inside-out positional tracking". Add in a light-saber controller that is then tracked as you move it around, and the AR headset allows you to see your brightly lit laser sword in addition to your opponent's. Very cool.

Star Wars: Jedi Challenges will be available from November in Australia with a RRP of $399 AUD. With Star Wars Episode VIII also out this holiday season, and the excellent looking Star Wars Battlefront II, You can be sure many a Christmas tree will feature quite a bit of Star Wars gold come December.

You can also pre-order it now, here.
