With the game also going free-to-play this weekend on Xbox One and Steam. The Nemesis Forge update for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, across all platforms, introduces a new mechanic that will record your top Orc Nemesis and Follower for inclusion in Middle-earth: Shadow of War -- which launches October 10. Very cool.

Here's a new video that explains the process.

For everyone that played the game, the Nemesis feature from Shadow of Mordor had the biggest lasting impact. More so than the story, which was also very good. This update solidifies developer Monolith's understanding of the game's impact, whilst also allowing for an emergent and almost random mechanic to have a meaningful impact on the sequel.

And if you haven't played the game yet, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is currently up to 80% off on Steam, the Xbox Marketplace, and the PlayStation Store.

This is perfect timing -- I've decided to go back and play through it again. Picked up the GotYE for $8 on XB1. Forgot how awesome it is, too
