Traditionally speaking it's easier to setup a server for online PC gaming than it is for console. Because one is a locked system, and the other is mostly open and allows for a wider variety of hardware configurations. A short while ago we dropped word that EA would be handling the Battlefield 1 Rent-a-Server stuff internally, as to control the quality of what's on offer. On paper that sounds fine, but in a recent post it looks like renting a Battlefield 1 server for the PC version will cost substantially more than one for the PS4 or Xbox One.

The post was made over at the official forum here, and the below prices are in USD.

As you know, Rental Servers for PS4 and Xbox One have gone through EA. Now with Rental Servers going through EA, there’s quite a lot of questions. Let’s answer some now:

How much will it cost?

PC
1 day: $2.99
7 days: $11.99
30 days: $42.99
90 days: $99.99
180 days: $149.99

PLAYSTATION® 4 / XBOX ONE
1 day: $1.99
7 days: $7.99
30 days: $26.99
90 days: $64.99
180 days: $99.99

When will the Rental Server Program Launch?
We’re excited to bring RSP to Battlefield 1 this November.

Yeah, war ain't cheap.

If this prevents admins from running crap like Metro 24/7 or Lockers 24/7, then I think it's a good move.

One of the two reasons why I cancelled my Early Enlister, EA monopoly and no joystick support.

I really have no problems with the servers atm, maybe it will weed out as FSCB those retarded one map 24/7 servers, if you only want to play one map go play counterstrike on de-dust with the rest of the knuckle draggers

I could say the same thing, if you only want to play de_dust 24/7 go f*** off and play game X like the you are. People like certain maps and if someone wants to run a 24/7 server then let them. You f*****s have your girlie pants in a bunch over nothing. Don't like the map? Play on a different server you knob gobblers.

NO Whoop, just NO. People run 24/7 servers because they just want a simplified mindless game. That is OK for them, no problems, but the issue is that in Australia you don't have a lot of choice, especially after a game has been out for a year. BF3/4 are filled with crap 24/7 servers with rubbish admins who run their rent-a-servers like a bunch of tight arse Communists on crap old equipment which is often laggier than playing on euro/US server.

I'd rather the game is run as it was envisaged to be run by DICE. ie a wide variety of game modes and maps on good server equipment.
So please f*** off and play your Metro, Lockers or your de-dust over and over and over. But at least rename the server to MindlessC****Gaming.com and run it as a private for your small minded mates.

And on the same note, you ever wonder why Australia doesn't rank in eSports?
