Before there was South Park: The Stick of Truth, there were, well, a whole lot of infinitely less entertaining titles based on the hit TV series. But in another bizarro world, we would have seen another untitled South Park game released, evidence of which has been discovered on a fortuitous purchase of an old Xbox one (note the lowercase 'c') dev kit.

Gamespot found footage of the unreleased game that was originally posted about on the NintendoAge forum. Qixmaster, the user who originally posted about the game, provided a look at a pre-vis cinematic for the unannounced game.

The HappyConsoleGamer team posted a more thorough breakdown (video below) of the game in action, which looks like an attempt to create an open-world South Park game. Had it been released, it would have beat Stick of Truth to the punch for forcing the show creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker to fully map out the fictional town.

While an open-world South Park game may happen at some point, the next game adaptation of the hit comedy, South Park: The Fractured but Whole, is slated for release in 2016.
