The latest charity fund from Blizzard's behemoth of an MMO, World of Warcraft, has been a huge success, raising $1.9 million in funding for the Red Cross and fighting Ebola.
Players were able to purchase the new Argi pet on December 3rd 2014, with all funds going towards assisting the fight against this deadly disease for one month. "The community embraced this cute little intergalactic nibbler, helping out a great cause in the process. Thanks again to everyone who helped make a difference," reads the
battle.net post.
This isn't the first big fundraiser Blizzard has overseen, with a number of charity organisations benefiting from the various pets and mounts that players have been able to purchase over World of Warcraft's lifetime. Funding for past organisations has seen money raised in awareness of cancer, the 2011 Japanese earthquake and Make-A-Wish foundation.
