With the release of the next mainline title in the long-running arcade fighter Mortal Kombat just over two months away, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is wanting to secure your pre-orders the good old fashion way; offering fancy special editions that make you contemplate living on packets of noodles for a few weeks.

Three special editions have been made available, ranging from the standardised Mortal Kombat X Special Edition (available at EB Games and JB Hi-Fi) through to the more expensive but oh so much more awesome Mortal Kombat X Kollector's Edition (exclusive to EB Games). Check out the details below:
The Mortal Kombat X Kollector’s Edition (exclusive to EB GAMES) will include:

  • In-game Gold Scorpion Skin
  • The Mortal Kombat X Premium Edition will be available via download only and includes the following:
  • The Kombat Pack
  • The Mortal Kombat X Special Edition, (available at EB GAMES and JB HiFi) will feature the following:
  • Unique Steel Pack
  • Exclusive Scorpion Skin - this skin design, inspired by the Cold War, is a collaboration between NetherRealm Studios and a fan artist from the MKKollective.com, a crowd-sourced destination where Mortal Kombat enthusiasts can upload, submit and share their MK-related art, images, cosplay, music and videos.
  • Alongside special editions that will make you question whether you have a spending problem, developer NetherRealm has revealed both minimum and recommended PC specifications for playing the gory arcade title.
    Minimum requirements

Definitely tempting to get that special edition with the scorpion model. Interesting there is still MK comics coming out, I had a bunch of the MK comics that came out around the time of MK and MKII. I think I probably still have them buried away somewhere actually.

Hard decision what to get. Xbox would be ideal to play on the big screen but PC would prolly get more use since I won't be playing a heck of a lot of mulitplayer. hmm

Pretty full on specs, Mortal Kombat 9 runs perfectly fine on my Man Cave rig Q9650, 4GB Ram GTX460. Must be a massive upgrade on the graphics department to warrant those maximum requirement specs..

i liked the last mortal kombat game and would probably like this one

but i just don't have anyone to play with and the multiplayer on the last one was dodge

single player against the computer gets old pretty quickly

Yeah, the multiplayer on the last one was awful, but I'm hoping a combination of them learning from their mistakes and doing it better this time, and there being more local players cos its actually released here, will help.

Couldn't find any mention of an MK stick when I went looking, the company that made the custom MK sticks for the last game, PDP, are making some kind of weird pad controller for Mortal Kombat X instead. Sucks cos the sticks for MK9 were f*****g epic, done up to look reminiscent of an old MK arcade machine and with a padded velvet bit on the bottom so it was nice and comfortable to have on your lap. Problem is my MK 9 stick was for xbox 360 and wont work on Xbox one :(
