Apple had a strong opening weekend in iPhone 6 sales, according to figures the company released yesterday. According to Apple, it sold (combined) over 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus phones in the three days since its September 19 launch. That's twice as many phones as when it launched the iPhone 5 in 2012.

"Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn’t be happier," said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. "We would like to thank all of our customers for making this our best launch ever, shattering all previous sell-through records by a large margin. While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible."

The new iPhone 6 sports the new iOS 8 operating system, faster processors, and 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch (on the Plus model) Retina HD screens. Got one yourself? How are you finding it? Let us know in the comments!

haven't apple stopped the iOS 8 date to other iphones

and there are already some returns due to the phone being bendable

and there are alot of selling points that well, arent there, apple pay, (not to mention an NFC that isn't usable) iWatch, etc

The whole bendable thing is a bit of an overreaction, I've had a couple of my users bend their S4 phones. Also had an ipad Mini with a pretty impressive bend in it. All the screens and glass remained working and uncracked.

I dunno, the fact that it's getting bent in people pockets when they're just doing normal, everyday things, like walking and bending over - that seems to suggest it's not entirely fit for purpose.

I'm currently investigating what my next phone will be to replace a Lumia 920.

The people who use them aren't entirely fit for purpose. Take a look at the demograph of people who have this issue.

If they stop wearing such tight pants, they will 1: grow some balls, 2: be able to fit a phone into their pocket, and 3: not look like a girl/homosexual.

i think that is the concern raven, those bends are sounding pretty numerous in just a short time, and when you factor in the babying that many of those phone will have gotten (being a new toy, this is most likely to best people will look after them)

cant wait will apple offers some brace, or "free cover" to cover up this flaw

I'm surprised the phones bend that far without snapping anyways.

Is it wrong to stop liking someone for actually going and lining up with 500 other gimps to get one of these? Am I an a******?

1. No
2. No

Even with awesome Intel chips, awesome graphics cards, awesome new lambo/ford/holden/nissan releases, you don't see anyone lining the stores.

Only CoD and iPhones attract these types. Trying to draw a conne...

iOS 8 sucks balls on older devices. and in older one of them is only an iPhone 5S the other a bit older an iPad 2. but still.

apps crash, screen freezes, orientation getting stuck. all reported on from my googling, but is a pain.

Yeah, I'm definitely avoiding iOS8 on my iPad Mini. I've not seen any reason at all to upgrade it.

I bet Apple are going to start selling belt phone holders again. More Apple accessories to cash in on.

Looks like it's only the 6+? It is massive.

6 might be alright, if it's in a case too. I'm sure you could bend most of those fablet phones.

I have a Note 3 and it's sturdy as f***. I don't wear stupidly tight pants with unrealistic sized pockets though. Sitting here right now with my phab in my pocket, no hassles at all - kinda forgot where it was till I checked.

People are stupid, we must accept this.

I thought bendy fold up phones were the next "thing"

Apple is just ahead of the game as usual ;-/

They should turn this into a marketing opportunity.

I bought a 6 last night, seems plenty sturdy. I didn't buy 6+ cause i felt and probably looked like a tool when I held it to my ear, too f*****g big.

Same here. After holding the 6+ in my hand it was just excessive. Note 3 is probably the largest i'd go with a phone (having used one in the past, they're fantastic)

Reminds me of the old Nokia N-Gage that spawned the "sidetalking" meme

The screen is bigger but the form factor of the 6+ is bigger.

yeah i just went and looked at it in more depth

kinds of lolsie they can't even match the previous model note for size. maybe they shouldn't have tried to make it as thin and bendable as possible

And while Apple are currently offering to replace phones which have been bent like this, what's going to happen going forward? This is clearly a design problem - it's not like people are going to stop putting them in their pockets, so the problem isn't going to go away. Expect more of these reports in the coming weeks/months and for the life of this product.

I still struggle to understand why we need such massive devices. WHen I got the Lumia 920 it was one of the largest devices around, now it's the size of some of the smallest I can find - crazy.

Ok I have a couple pet peeves with this phone lol.

first is that the back is too slippery, can't grip the phone properly, feels like it's gonna fall out of my hand. A case or those thin plastic stick on protector things should fix that.

second, the lock button is directly opposite the volume controls so occasionally when I lock the phone I also press on the volume buttons on the other side.

I put iOS8 on my iPad mini a few days ago. So far I haven't noticed any performance issues but it's constantly asking me to sign into iCloud which I don't want to do.
