Today Apple announced the iPhone 6 in two flavors (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus), and the Apple Watch. The iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch display and a resolution of 1334x750 with 326 pixels per inch, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920x1080 with 401 pixels per inch.

The new iPhone also features Apple's A8 chip (promising 25 percent faster processing power and up to 50 percent faster graphics speeds compared to the iPhone 5), support for 802.11ac wi-fi, comes with an 8-megapixel iSight camera with faster auto-focus, an enhanced FaceTime HD camera complete with a new sensor, and iOS 8.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will come in three flavours: 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. The mobile phones will be available September 19th in the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.

Apple also revealed their long-rumoured Apple Watch, due in early 2015, with a starting price point of USD$349. The new watch also requires an iPhone 5 or higher to function.

More can be found on the Apple Watch over at the official website, and more about the iPhone 6 series over here.

What happened to Apples innovation, did it die with Steve Jobs?

I'll be interested to see the response on the Apple Wallet or what ever they have called it, especially with the recent iCloud hack hanging over the company.

You sure it's not meant to be 25% faster than the iPhone 5?

25% faster than the original that was released like 7 years ago isn't particularly impressive.

I became an Apple hater due to their marketing and the newbs that use them, but I might give up on it, it's not even a challenge anymore.

That said, the Galaxy Note 4 isn't much better than the Note 3, but both are still way ahead of iPhones.

Rofl, people parrot this exact same line everytime Apple releases a new product "no innovation" "nothing new" When infact these products are actually quite a big step forward. Yes they played catch up on some features but overall, they are now way ahead of samsung.

Samsung Galaxy S5 is a cheap plastic piece of s*** with a crappy OS that isn't user friendly, cluttered and hard to use.

It's 50% faster than the 5s. Pretty sure the 50x faster is in relation to the first gen iphone, that's what the graph is showing.

That's because its kind of true, and by kind of I actually mean they stopped being innovative well before he passed on... But that's not really worth mentioning because well s***, Innovation is hard f*****g work and to just keep popping out crazy awesome ideas all the time is no easy feat and nobody would point it out if iPhone users didn't act like such f*****g morons. People act impressed by these features when they are nothing new. If they did any research into there products before buying them they would of seen that the alternatives have better features for less money YEARS AGO. But no, iPhone users are sheep who act like crazy cult weirdos. So people love to point out to you bunch of morons how un-innovative the company they so much love.

Anyway, i'll let this picture do the rest of my ranting.

Most iphone users I know are anti - big phone. So this could go doing interestingly.

The more likely scenario is that now think big phones are the next big thing and apple are game changers. WTF is up with not using atleast a 1080p display???

Also now apple is finally on the NFC bandwagon we might see it more widely excepted to pay by phone.

You obviously misread what I said but you obviously being an Apple fan boi probably only read what you wanted to read.

The iPod, iPhone, iPad, iTunes etc etc were all innovations that changed the way we do things since Steve Jobs has passed Apple just play catch up, Samsung & other Android companies already have most of these features, Apples new products just don't get me going WOW anymore like they used it.

The Galaxy may be a "cheap plastic piece of s***" but it still breaks just as easily as the overpriced iProduct

User interface for Android phones can take some getting used to as the amount of options for customisation you can have is limitless compared to Apples "Do as we say" method.

That's only because they didn't have a large iPhone. Watch that space. A special sub-Apple master race is appearing on the horizon. :)

It's like a gamer who can't afford a graphics card saying they don't need one and it's all marketing.

Samsung brought out the Watch technology first did they not? Apple doesn't have to innovate but alot of their success in the last decade I would like to think is due to their innovation and not their 50% inflated price.

Do people here actually believe the watch concept will take off? I've had a Pebble since early days and it's got next to no use. Since then I've bought three other watches.

They're a novel idea, but I personally see them going the way of early Windows CE pocket PCs.

I 'want' a watch, but even with enthusiasm, I can't see anything particularly useful yet for them besides telling the time. Maybe one day when someone revolutionises them.

50% on other brands, but 500%+ on the cost to make it. The iPhone 3G(S) was under $180 to build, and sold to us for $700-$1000

i'd get the samsung gear fit for training and s***, but i read a review yesterday saying the heart rate monitors on them aren't that great and struggle to keep your heart rate if you are moving

anyone got any of the latest samsung gear 2/fit that can confirm that?

I just hope they give garmin a kick in the pants to do something decent, and price more competitively. (if the smart watches don't end up being good enough themselves)

Pave you'd probably buy a blue tooth heart rate monitor if you were going to use it as your fitness device.

Like with smartphones, practically none of what happened before matters - there's not been that one, defining thing that has made people sit up and take notice of smartwatches, like what happened with the iPhone.

Maybe Apple's Watch will do it, maybe it won't. Certainly there are millions of people that will buy it simply because Apple. But everything else that has happened to date I think isn't really very relevant to the smartwatch scene. edit: except possibly Android Wear - still too soon to tell.

i personally think that smart watches are like blackberrys (to a degree) they have a small market, and it will "take off" only if it becomes something cool to be seen with

after playing with google glass awhile back, I really only see this as a stepping stone to glasses type wearable tech (I see it as much more useful longer term)

the main issues with smartwatches is can require a change habbit, (ie I wear my watch all the time and only take it off......um, not very often at all really) where as i take my glasses off when I go to bed (mostly, there is the odd time i've forgotten)

and there is also the usability when the battery is dead/flat and youre unable to charge, smartwatch would be less useful than a candy watch, where (for those who use glasses) you can still use them to see thru

I can't see smart watches taking off, they just seem..silly. You'd have to be charging it constantly which means it's another device you basically have to manage. Screw that!

I'm still on an iPhone 4S so I'll probably get the iPhone 6, work only allows iPhones or Blackberries. I'd rather have a Nokia 7210 than a blackberry.

hahaah brool is such a troll, not making it subtle anymore mate.

It's weird how people think products that use plastic are somehow less quality than a device that has a metal casing? You realise the highest quality products in the world use plastic?
The samsung line is as high quality as Iphone's material. I prefer plastic phones as they are easier to repair, lighter, a scratch isn't the end of the world etc.

Apple has been behind for awhile now, and this launch is definitely playing catch up with Android.

http://www.kitguru.net/apple/anton-shilov/apple-iphone-6s-nfc-chip-is-restricted-to-apple-pay-terminals/

Although Apple’s latest smartphones support near-field communication (NFC) technology, this technology will only be compatible with Apple Pay terminals and will not work with anything else. The reasons why Apple decided to restrict usage of NFC are unclear, but it looks like the new iPhones will not work with other NFC-enabled devices.

As for the size, whatever, I switch between a iPhone, Nexus 5 and Lumia 920 time to time and after a week you don't notice the size difference.

Not so much related to the iPhone thing (whatever), but the anti-apple pro-google thing is always funny...

http://bgr.com/2013/11/28/mac-chromebook-google-employees/

“There was a time when Macs were a small part of the Google fleet,” Google system engineer Clay Caviness said, “but as of now if you start at Google and want to use a platform other than Mac you have to make a business case.”
