Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the acclaimed Myst, the series' co-creator reportedly addressed the crowd at the IndieCade conference in Los Angeles last weekend to tell the turbulent tale of two decades at Cyan Worlds, and dropped mention that the studio is in the planning stages of a Kickstarter project (via PCWorld, thanks Polygon):
publishers were kind of like, ‘Yeah we want something new and different,’ and we’d show them and they’d go, ‘...Yeah, not that,’” said Miller.

“Kickstarter to me is an awesome opportunity, and so yeah, we’re putting together something for a larger project in the future.”
Since the floundering of Myst Online, Cyan Worlds has been focused on mobile game development, and various ports of Myst and the real-time rendered RealMyst.

Polygon points out that the Cyan Worlds developers appear to be teasing something via an alternate reality game (ARG), or at least serving up puzzles for its community to ponder over on its official forums.

I played an iPad game while driving down in Melbourne called "The Room", reminded me of Myst something fierce!
