After almost three years since being announced, Sony Online Entertainment will finally being showing the world what exactly the next title in the EverQuest franchise looks like at this year's SOE Live event in Las Vegas.

According to the official page for the annual event, a keynote speech will be given on Friday, 2nd of August (Saturday, 3rd of August for Australia) to start the event that will open the world of EverQuest Next to the public. John Smedley, Dave Georgeson and the producers of upcoming MMO will be on stage to discuss all things EverQuest, and of course open the curtains on what exactly we have all been eagerly waiting for.

Originally revealed in 2010 at SOE's Fan Faire event in Las Vegas, development on EverQuest Next has been kept quiet as the team works to re-invent what many believe was the first "true" MMO experience for the larger market.

To find out more on what to expect from SOE Live 2013, check out the official website for the schedule alongside the Twitch livestream where the event will go live at 4AM AEST on Saturday, August 2nd.

$5 says there are buzzwords such as "casual", "Accessible" and "cash-cows... err, we mean customers..."

Apparently industry insiders who have seen it have been blown away but it has very tight NDAs?

I am guessing a sandbox fantasy game based on an alternate Norrath using the Planetside engine. But I am probably wrong.

Hopefully the world is huge. Original EQ huge where getting from one side of the world to the other took hours, you could make money running weapons from one part of the world to the other, armour from a different area, research items were regionalised.

Even better if it has 3 factions pvp (DAOC) and no NPCs to talk of (original Star Wars Galaxies style).

I hope everything you say is true, because that is what I would love to see in a modern MMO. I'm sick of being handfed everything, I'd love to go back to old EverQuest but with modern graphics. Guess we will see soon enough.

The second part on youtbe of their "worldwide release" has a lot of interesting features that are including mostly around how players actually affect the world in a meaningful manner.

After watching this I am quite keen to see how this is done, evolves and then gets implemented from Landmark to the end release.
