Valve has revealed their latest hero for free-to-play MOBA title Dota 2, the Skywrath Mage. Currently available on the test client of Dota 2, the new hero is proving to be quite a sturdy opponent with the ability to dish out massive amounts of magical damage in short amounts of time.

Utilising all four of his abilities Skywrath Mage can deal a very large amount of damage but also offers a 40% slow with his Concussive Shot (E) ability. The Mage's ultimate (R) is quite devastating if catching prey alone, with "600/900/1200 damage dealt within a moderate AoE to any heroes caught inside his ultimate." To follow that up is the Ancient Seal ability, which offers 3/4/5/6 seconds of silence to the targeted enemy but also receives 16/24/30/36% extra magic damage. You start to get the picture that Skywrath Mage is definitely a glass canon.

Alongside the new hero reveal, Valve has also added a new "Download" tab which will store all saved replays for convenience. You can check out the full patch notes over at PCGamesN.

I'm not too sure if there is a list like that TiT, though this guide might be of more use to you.

E: Actually I lie, there is one on the wiki over here.

Thank you :)

I still prefer HON over DoTA, Couple things that annoy me is there is no but where you can press or hold that will centre your Hero. Minimap cant be changed to the other corner (as i prefer this because sometimes when trying run away you accidently click on the map and you Hero goes the other way). And i also find the Hereo quite small as they are the same size as the creeps

Space bar does this for me?

This has been the bane of my existence when playing Radiant and still f**** me from time to time 700 games in. I'm getting used to it but from what I can tell watching games of DOTA2 players who are not s*** (ie not me) they tend to click closer to the hero that I do and more often. I tend to do wider F*** GO OVER HERE clicks.

TiT there is actually a button to select your hero, I've mapped it to spacebar because I'm so use to LoL. I do agree that the size of the heroes is somewhat smaller compared to other MOBAs but I think you can change the FOV (maybe).

There is also a rather large in house community for us ANZ people. Dota is hard. If you join that chat channel (Dota is hard) you can find a great many people to group and play with. They're all fairly friendly.

Also, they run in house games on Wednesday that are cast on twitch and have commentary. I dabbled in the commentary last week, was a lot of fun.

Also a tourney running tomorrow. Kinda wish I had 5 I could play with to do this. http://nlgseries.com/?site=cups&action=details&cupID=228

Yeah not being able to change the minimap s**** me. Dunno why cause its such a common thing to f*****g misclick. F1 centres the map on my hero with F2 for courier, sure this can be changed to other keys.

Add this to an autoexe or in the console.

dota_minimap_misclick_time "0.3"

.3 or .5 saves me from misclicking the minimap. Never had the problem since changing it.

My whole autoexe.cfg has this if anyone wants to copy it.

dota_force_right_click_attack "1"
dota_range_display "1200"
dota_disable_range_finder "0"
dota_screen_shake "1"
dota_player_multipler_orders "0"
dota_unit_fly_bonus_height "150"
dota_minimap_simple_colors "0"
dota_minimap_misclick_time "0.3"
dota_sf_old_heropedia "0"
net_graphinsetbottom "437"
net_graphinsetright "-80"
net_graphproportionalfont "0"
net_graph "1"
dota_health_per_vertical_marker "250"
dota_embers "1"
dota_minimap_ping_duration "3"
dota_minimap_hero_size "600"

Just make it and throw it in \Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\cfg folder and winner winner chicken dinner.

I think what it does is delays the click for 0.3 sec so if you accidently click on the map it wont change direction

Minimum time after the mouse enters the minimap before we accept a move command. Used to prevent misclicks.

Default value: 0

I can't wrap my brain around how that is a problem.

Is that just for those gumbies that clickclickclick like they're playing Diablo?

The only problem i can see with this cmd is for heroes that have global spells. Like say natures prophet, if you're trying to escape. I usually click on the mini map to get out of there but this would now cause a delay. Or using ancients app ult, another delay on this. I know its not long but still a delay.

I'll take one later with what each thing I have does.

When you're trying to make pro dukes when fleeing for your life and you are heading towards the radiant fountain, I, and many others had problems with accidently hitting the dire corner of the map. So we'd head back and die.

It adds a slight delay, which is good.

I haven't really seen any detrimental effects of this. Even when using heroes like NP. There are always work arounds that offset the delay, such as moving camera or what not.

Finally got around to posting it, this is what it looks like for me. The ring is the xp range. The little arrow for the skill shows me the range.

1200 exp range is like double the max attack range of ranged heroes. If you cant estimate that you're kinda in trouble. I can understand for blink n hooks though cause u dont wanna f*** that up.

Well I like to have it up anyway. I can be certain I am in or not in range, plus from there you know where blink/hook/etc skills will go.

Not all ranged heroes are 600rng though. Once you start using the range indicator, it's hard to go back. It makes staying in solo offlane a lot easier.
DeadlyDav0
Posted 11:34am 28/4/13
Didnt say they are all 600 range but said that was the max range of ranged heroes although i just now realised that sniper is an exception. I can understand the importance for solo offlane where you might be ganked at any stage n need to keep max distance from the enemy.

I felt smite was like lol. It lacked the depth that dota 2 has. It was fun, but since switching to the Aus servers for Dota2, nothing can compare.

Yeah i'm not sure if it has the depth of dota, but f*** is it fun. I havn't been playing smite for too long and I own most games. I think the skill cap is lower for noobs. Be interesting to see what its meta game is like (if it develops into one)
