Creative Assembly has today unveiled a new trailer for upcoming RTS Total War: Rome 2, featuring the very overwhelming Battle of Teutoburg Forest in 9AD. Masterminded by Arminius, the trailer showcases some of the new mechanics that Creative Assembly are implementing in their newest RTS title, including true line-of-sight and deployable battlefield technology.
In 9AD, Teutoburg Forest was the scene of a crushing defeat for the Empire. Masterminded by Arminius, the son of a Germanic chieftain taken as a child and raised as a hostage in Rome, the battle saw his betrayal of the Roman general Varus.

Arminius united the tribes, ambushed Varus’ Legion and struck a fatal and shattering blow to the Empire’s expansion.

Teutoburg Forest features as a playable historical battle in Total War: ROME II, and demonstrates some of the game’s thrilling new features, including our true line-of-sight system, deployable battlefield technology, and our tense new style of ambush scenarios.
Check out the trailer below which is sure to get any strategy fan's heart pumping, and also check out a few screenshots below (more at our game page).

Played the original rome so many times. Numerous times as various rome factions and a few times as a few barbarian tribes. Loved the units that had a range attack before charging in for melee. Had this back on CD then purchased a while back on steam sale for like $5 - 32hrs which is pretty good for me. Wasnt a big fan of TW medieval 2's castle vs town aspect but still played it a bit. Recently got new PC and was smashing Empire during the holidays and really like the auto replenish troops feature. Then tried a few hours of Napoleon. Am yet to try Shogun 2. Also had the original Medieval TW and that was good.

Am yet to try Shogun 2

Should give it a go, one of the best I reckon. A different feel to the other games, but once you get over the hump of learning new strategems/unit types and get into the huge open fights it's fantastic.
