Treyrach have offered up yet another "we love the PC" announcement, confirming that post-launch, Call of Duty: Black Ops will have a full set of mod tools made available.

On the game's official forum, user "pcdev" (developer, Cesar Stastny) said that "We [Treyarch] plan to open the game up for modding sometime post-launch," but that at this stage they were unsure as to how extensive modding would be, citing "technical issues" as a hurdle they need to overcome beforehand, issues "related to engine and internal tool enhancements that do not easily fit the modtools paradigm". Either way, this is still very good news for PC gamers burnt by promises never delivered by Infinity Ward for Modern Warfare.

dedicated servers for the pc, post-release mod tool support? two pretty fundamental differences to how things were handled under Infinity Ward, I'd say it's more than just a rehash... personally, I think it's great that with a franchise of this magnitude they're being so community-centric

If they had the ability to retroactively release dedicated servers for MW2, They'd get a big surge of support.

MW2's mp disappointed me, because of the server issue, so I haven't had a decent COD game since COD4. Needless to say it's great to hear that they're bringing back Dedicated Servers and PC Mod Tools. Some of the best moments I've had on COD4 was on the zombie mod someone made for it (not the crappy gamearena one). Pumped!

is that the zombie mod where you can only see a few feet in front of you and you get unlimited ammo?

if so - that was awesome.... especially if you could pull off the trick jumps to get to special parts of the maps ;)
