Until seeing this GamesCom multiplayer video for Crysis 2, I have to admit, I haven't been overly enthusiastic about the game, but everything happening in here from a gameplay level and a technical level, looks on the money.

Three plus minutes of obvious Team Deathmatch across New York rooftops should be enough to get anyone's attention, but details like destructible environments (and cover), thermal imaging, XP, kill streak rewards, multiple melee death actions/animations and the info at the end such as there being six MP modes, 12 NYC-based locations, 80 ranks and 60 Nanosuit upgrades (amidst much more) have made this a game to seriously look out for in my book.

Crysis 2 is set to arrive March next year on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Anyone know if there's been word on dedicated servers for the PC ver (assuming no for consoles by default)?

God I hope they don't make it so you have to unlock weapons with XP and rank. I'm gettin so sick of every FPS developer jumping on that band wagon. I mean, Counter-Strike had no leveling system, you had to buy your guns each round, and its considered the greatest FPS of all time. Crysis (and Crysis Wars) was a lot of fun, and I think that they were underrated games, I just hope they haven't changed too much...

Game looks ok, but it's always painful to watch conslol players with their controllers.

I thought it looked good. I also think ranking through XP building and the like is a great way to show progress and empower players who aren't top-of-the-line FPSers. it's an elite field filled with elitists, why should I be scared to play the multiplayer component of a game I enjoyed in single-player because I'm not as reactive, quick or schooled as a veteran player? Gaming has become so segregated between purists, gamers and casual players when there definitely should be a middle ground.

Who cares if someone plays on console or isn't as fast with a mouse and keyboard combo? Does it ruin your experience with the game? No. Each person experiences it on their own.

This game definitely borrows from CoD, but that's not a bad thing, clearly that is a formula that has proven to work, in much the same way Quake proved to work at one time or Counter-Strike (both of which still do).

Point is - there's far too much whinging and complaining and trolling and elitist BS that really isn't necessary - not in a lot of what was mentioned here, anyway.

Looked a whole lot better than I thought it would, I was impressed by the way they can move around the environment, which was nice itself. Not keen on the kill sequence when you stab someone from behind. Sure it looks cool but it makes you vulnerable, never take control away imo, also can't tell if it has strafing while sprinting, one of the biggest issues I have with BC2.

If the ranks mean I can customize my character then I'm all for it, but if it's just for show then it will just be an ego token for hackers, A la COD.

When you stabkill you probably go invincible for the time it takes to do the animation. Otherwise as you say you are vulnerable and could get picked off easily.

I did like the kill cam thing so you can see how you died and by whos hand.

That would be even more annoying, you may fire at them giving yourself away to them and others and get no kill... should just be a normal stab to some critical area. Kill cams are ok but I prefer how MW2 does it on hardcore, just snaps the camera to the direction of your killer for about .2 of a second when you die. Counters campers well enough while not giving ppl away too much.

MP rooftop hopping FTW, although i'd like to see the action be a lot faster than that.

For sure and it seemed a bit set up, some of the enemies just ignored him (with out cloak on).

EXP system looks good, I'm just saying I hope it isn't to unlock weapons. Nothing worse than playing MP for the first time to get rickstrolled by some dude with this epic gun that's taken 160 hours to unlock. Pretty excited for this game, I hope they still implement huge maps with vehicles.
