Net Devil have released a new cinematic trailer for their upcoming title LEGO Universe - an adventurous game that brings the Danish construction toy and massively multiplayer together at last.

It would be nice to get a look at some of the game in action, but this latest cinematic video is pretty sweet. They've also released a few new screenshots, check those out over on our LEGO Universe game page.

I really hope there's a decent free-form construction element in this game. That really should be all a LEGO MMO needs right, co-operative building huge crazy s*** with basically unlimited blocks. From all of the screenshots though, it looks like it's all just pre-fab.

This has so much potential to be awesome.

Looking forward to seeing what becomes of it.

Shouldnt be unlimited building blocks, you should have to earn/find them, kill something or complete a quest or knock down an existing building. And there should be a few realy hard to find pieces, just like real lego, like a drawbridge etc.

I think that I have found the first sub based MMO that I am interested in. Now to convince the little lady that this is for the kiddies to play not me :P

hah nice, I could get into this
it's easier to take it seriously as a game when it doesn't try to take it's self so seriously, if that makes any sense

gizmodo has some impressions of the game.

There are two components of the game that are pretty tightly interweaved: the more traditional MMO portions where you use your skills and interact with other players to achieve goals and defeat monsters, and the building bit, where you have your own territory and can build anything you want out of Lego pieces.

also

The best bit is the promise that you’ll be able to take digital creations you make in the game and make a custom set, complete with constructions, in meatspace. Lego will figure out which pieces are necessary to build your masterpiece, give you a price list, and ship you a custom box with everything inside.

Wait - this is a game - not a feature film?
That is a little dissapointing.
