I've been chomping at the bit to reveal to you all just how amazing Batman: Arkham Asylum is, but have been under strict embargo until today. So here it is, my insanely in-depth review for you all to read.

Just as BioShock did in 2007 (it was released in August), it seems Batman: Arkham Asylum is kicking off the quality release period that will fill the rest of 2009 - whether or not any of the other games on their way will be of the same quality though, remains to be seen.

I've been looking forward to this for so long, so glad it lives up to its potential. But it still doesn't come out here for like another week and a half :(

wait for an unsuspecting goon to come along and become a porn in your game of Bat and mouse

I think you mean pawn, the idea of Batman waiting around the corner for some porn is amusing though.

Awesome review, but I gotta know, are villains like Two-Face, The Ridder and the Penguin in it? I noticed theres actors cast for their voices on the imdb page for the game, but none of the media has ever mentioned them being in it.

haha holy s*** - well spotted Khel. I wrote most of the review last night at like 3am and thought I went over it with a fine tooth comb, can't believe I let that one slip...

As for the other villains - The Riddler appears as a constant voice throughout while collecting and solving his Riddler Challenges, but I think they didn't go overboard with using too many villains so they'd have some left for the inevitable sequel. There are a lot though, who do make guest appearances

Whats in the collectors edition that makes it worth getting?

I had heard a lot about this game but this was the first time I read a review of it or saw its visuals and I must say I am impressed. The lack of on-console multiplayer kind of spoils it for me though. So I won't be rushing out to buy it unless the price is right.

Triamks, it's not the sort of game that would work with Multiplayer though

It'd still be nice to play it with someone. Batman did have Robin after all.

Edit after Ravn0s' post. When I said multiplayer, I meant Co-Op obviously.

co-op in a sequel would be awsome

Co-op would be sweet, but seriously, who would want to be robin.

As somebody who isn't really over thrilled by batman is it worth still playing?

I'd say yes. The lore/history behind the Caped Crusader might be lost on you, but at it's heart Batman:AA is a damn fine brawler/stealth/adventure thingybob. Grab the demo and check it out first, just don't let the whole Batman thing put you off what's surprisingly fun.

might wanna refer to the review:

"And yet beyond the license, beyond Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy's brilliant portrayals of the portraiture comic book yin and yang and beyond the over-the-top yet spot-on interpretations of classic Batman villains, Batman: Arkham Asylum is a stellar videogame. Remove all of the above while maintaining the same formula and you'd still have yourself one of the year's best titles."

"From the control outset you know this game is going to be good"
So you decided at 1 second in that this game is going to be good. I thought the hype for Dark Knight was over the top but Jesus Christ - at least they waited to see Joker! I can't read a sentence more of this review after that. I plan on checking it out ( a friend got it free with his PS3) but when you start talking like this you have to accept that some people are going to turn off.
