With the company partnering with Adi Shankar, producer of Netflix’s impressive Castlevania adaptation. Set in the over-the-top neon 1980s retro techno future first seen in the Far Cry 3 expansion Blood Dragon, so far we've got some very-Blood Dragon-y art alongside its title - Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe.

Check it out.

No additional details were provided, but this announcement joins a larger Ubisoft push for animated content based on its properties or around videogames. In addition to more Rabbids animated specials, another family-friendly animated comedy set in the Rayman universe is being developed. Also, a show about high-school hackers inspired by the Watch Dogs but not set in its universe. And an animated sketch comedy series about videogames.

Ubisoft has revealed the first official gameplay of their upcoming standalone title, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, complete with a very awesome '80s-styled cartoon. Earlier this week the title was accidentally leaked to the public a month before release after a Russian website gained access to the entire uPlay catalogue, Ubisoft's digital service shop. Various gameplay videos were posted to YouTube however a majority have since been taken down.
Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is THE Kick-Ass Cyber Shooter taking place on a bizarre open-world island crawling with evil. Welcome to an 80's VHS vision of the future. The year is 2007 and you are Sargent Rex Colt, a Mark IV Cyber Commando who's fighting against a cyborg army gone rogue. Your mission: get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world. Experience every cliché of a VHS era vision of a nuclear future, where cyborgs, blood dragons, mutants, and Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens, Navy Seals) collide. Playing Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon doesn't require a copy of Far Cry 3.
The retro title will not only see giant lizard's firing lasers from their eyes, but also see the addition of Michael Biehn, known for his roles in Terminator, Aliens and Navy Seals.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is now available for pre-order on Steam for PC (thanks TuffNuT) with a release date of May 2 and price of $17.95 USD. The pre-order is also offering the enigmatic soundtrack for those who jump in early, which offers the soothing sounds of Power Glove, a Melbourne-based band. A recent slip up at Xbox.com had listed the title with a May 1st release date, however it is currently unknown what the console release dates are.

With a "VHS era vision of nuclear future," the standalone title will also see the addition of Michael Biehn, known for his roles in Terminator, Aliens and Navy Seals.

Ubisoft has revealed several new screenshots of Far Cry 3 in what looks to be a heavily-themed '80s spin-off, complete with neon-infused designs reminding us of an earlier time on the Internet. Earlier in the week a new website had appeared giving people the impression that it was simply a elaborate April Fools joke, however this doesn't seem to be the case and actually looks like a legitimate DLC pack.
The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.
No other information has been given on what exactly this new content will have to offer, but it will definitely be something out-of-this-world.

Alongside the quite old-school website over here, Ubisoft also released a three-track, '80s styled soundtrack from Melbourne electronica group Power Glove on the free SoundCloud service.

While not officially available yet, Ubisoft has today revealed their launch trailer for the hotly anticipated open-world first-person shooter Far Cry 3, running in at just shy of 10 minutes long.

Featuring an introductory into just what you can expect from the tropical island adventure, the launch trailer is narrated by one of the first friendly faces you see, Dennis. With a wealth of danger on the island, including tigers and bears, it's safe to say you'll need the knowledge before diving in.
In this savage paradise where lawlessness and violence are the only sure thing, players will dictate when, where and how the events of the game unfold. Players will slash, sneak, detonate and shoot their way across the island in a world that has lost all sense of right and wrong.

From a massive and living open world and a gripping storyline to standalone Coop and Multiplayer modes, Far Cry 3 is going to bring you hours and hours of fun and discoveries.

Welcome to the Rook Islands: shoot first, ask direction later.
Ubisoft has also revealed a critical day 1 patch (1.01) for PC is now available for download, which you can find locally here. The patch notes include fixes to multiplayer, co-op and singleplayer, which you can find over here.

As far as end-of-year titles go, Far Cry 3 could very well be the cream of the crop. Maybe not because it's the absolute top dog in the crowd, but for its emergent possibilities and vast, open-world, there's a solid chance you'll be playing this bad boy for quite some time into the holidays.

We asked NachosJustice to get lost in the world of Jason Brody, Vaas and co on PC (to get the most out of the experience) and he walked away a changed man. Whether it was the ferociousness of the island's pirates, its myriad trip-inducing fungi, or the hot ladies involved in his quest, we're sure he's in a better place now.

Recently our resident jungle hero Steve was given the chance to try out a 90-minute demo of the upcoming open-world FPS Far Cry 3, and so far it looks to be quite an interesting adventure. While the release date slowly ticks ever closer (late November), Steve was able to get a hands-on look at just how the story and open-world content have been wedded together.

"While I only tackled the game for roughly 90-minutes, I was delivered narrative and open-world in equal parts, and never felt that one overshadowed the other. Their marriage is a compelling one, though you never once feel like you’re required to follow the game’s own level-structure. It’s also invitingly overwhelming once you do have your freedom, and the whole game-map is open to you as soon as the intro leash is removed."
