That is, hopefully. As per a new video interview with Gamespot, Larian Studios chief Swen Vincke notes says "we are really trying to get the game done by next year". Adding, "it's not gonna release this year for sure", meaning that Baldur's Gate 3 will remain in Early Access for a while.
As expected the team is working on both the existing Early Access version of the game in addition to completing the rest of the story. As a single-play narrative and battle heavy RPG, that also happens to be the long-awaited return of the seminal Baldur's Gate series, its akin to a massive AAA release getting released in an unfinished state -- there's plenty more work to be done.
Of course development has also been hampered by ongoing pandemic and shifting to a work-from-home structure. It's a wide ranging interview, so if you're keen on the latest in Baldur's Gate 3 development be sure to watch the video below.
For those playing you'll be pleased to know that the next update is based on the feedback it has received from players.
