GameSpot are
reporting that the controversial BMX XXX title from Acclaim has been refused classification by the OFLC:
A rating of Refused Classification, or "RC," means that the game content cannot fit into any of the available categories for computer and video games, which in Australia only go as high as the "MA 15+" classification. If a game would have been given an "R 18+" or "X" rating, then it cannot go on sale in Australia without modification to remove the offending content.
This announcement follows
Term's post a few days ago that it was on shaky grounds in the US with several retails apparently refusing to sell the game. If you've seen the
trailer, you'll probably know why it didn't make it through, though to be honest I don't think this will suffer from the same sort of outcry as when Grand Theft Auto 3 was refused classification.

I've got no sympathy to Acclaim, they constantly seek cheap, exploitive publicity stunts such as the 'change your name to Turok, or we'll pay your speeding fines' and the content in this BMX XXX game was obviously a cheap publicity stunt to cover up what is probably an average BMX sports title.
if you want a BMX game go and play Dave Mirra, if you want low polygon porn or dogs rooting make you laugh then you really need to get out more :-)

Rumour is Burnout 2 is not coming to Xbox, AFL has been constantly delayed and the final game is average at best, BMX XXX banned, Turok is crappy beyond belief...
great year so far Acclaim.

"That's not _really_ true - GTA3 was banned for what I think are pretty good reasons. Basically there just isn't a rating for games that combine sex and violence yet. Personally, I heartily approve of the current ratings systems for both movies and games (though obviously an R rating would be nice for games), but would like to see them a bit more ruthlessly enforced in certain cases." - trog
Well i can see why GTA3 had to be changed for Aussie shores - but if the OFLC could finally click that there are adult gamers out here, who know the difference between the real world and the game world. I really think we need an R rating for the game market. Hell EB and the like should be in the same vein as cinemas & video stores - ask for ID if the game is age restricted.
Though did you see any footage for the whores business? All that happens is they sit in the car, and it shakes. Hell they actually didn't say your getting any, maybe they are actually just street-therapists. They talk to you about your problems, which in turn boosts your ego, and your health. ;)

That's a good idea. Meanwhile gamers are so lazy, if we were all so hung up on this, you'd think we would of all lobbied for an R rating for games, and organised a bunch of people to email government authorities on the subject.
