Those of you still enjoying the very explosive and comical gameplay of Gotham City Impostors will be happy to know that the latest update has gone live, bringing with it a brand new map straight from the Batman: Arkham Asylum scene.
Gotham City Impostors is an original first-person shooter where up to 12 players battle for control of an unhinged Gotham City overrun by impostors inspired by the DC Comics characters Batman and The Joker. Players can engage in deliriously fast paced, uniquely vertical, and completely unconventional urban warfare where progress supports leveling up and access to a mind-boggling array of customization options.
The free update is available now on the PlayStation Network and the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, however PC players will have to wait until the near future for the update.

Check out the trailer below showing off the new map (HD over here) or you can spread your wings and glide to our game page for all the latest screenshots and news.

Gotham City Impostors developers have let word that they are now offering dedicated servers in all three platforms (PC, PS3 and Xbox 360), which will drastically reduce latency and stop those nasty disconnection issues when a host leaves.

Along with the word of dedicated servers, Gotham City Impostors is also getting a free DLC pack in March, which is always a nice gesture to your gaming fans.
  • A new map, the "25th Floor"

  • Over 100 new customisation options, such as new weapons, support items, fully themed costume packs, and Calling Card elements

  • More matchmaking improvements

  • Join-in-Progress: Players will be able to join a match, even after it has started

  • Numerous additional fixes to resolve potential connection errors
  • You can check out our game page for all the latest screenshots and information, or check out the launch trailer embedded below showing off some insane vigilantes and criminals.

Monolith Production' very extravagant online-only multiplayer FPS, Gotham City Impostors, has found it's way onto Steam for download. Players can take part in the zany and twisted combat of the Batman like vigiliantes, or dress up as Joker wannabes and shoot their way out of any trouble.
  • Why fight crime when you can kill it… Gotham City has gone insane! Batman is up to his pointy ears in unwanted "helpers" determined to dish out their own bloodthirsty brand of vigilante justice in his name (and image). Meanwhile, a small army of self-appointed junior Jokerz has turned the streets of Gotham into a barmy battlefield of bullets, bodies, and bear traps.

  • More customization than you can shake a shotgun at… Packing more customization than you can shake a shotgun at, you get to choose the guns, gadgets and even the hairdos that fit your personality and play style. It doesn't matter if you want to be a mighty muscleman on roller skates with a hunting bow or a lithe lassie packing a homebrew rocket launcher and glider wings, Gotham City Impostors does not have rigid character classes and lets you play the way you want.
  • Steam has it listed for $14.99, and we definitely know this isn't a impostor price tag. Check out our game page for more info and screenshots, and hope to see you on the streets of Gotham!

Monolith's much touted first-person action Batman-themed multiplayer romp (say that fast three times), Gotham City Impostors, was originally scheduled for a January 10 release, but in keeping with the "impostor" theme, we were all made fun of and the game went into a perpetual beta testing period, with no release date in sight.

Thankfully the wait wasn't actually that long, as both Warner Bros. Interactive and Monolith have announced the aptly described "Team Fortress 2 with pretend Batmen and Jokers" will be releasing across Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this February 7 (which is just a few days from now). No reason was given for the delay, but we reckon it was a simple case of tightening up gameplay post-beta release which doesn't sound too bad at all.

The game is a team-based first-person shooter of sorts (first-person action is probably a better fit), that pits a host of wannabe do-gooders against a gang of hopeful evil-doers with all sorts of zaniness gluing them together. Watch a trailer for the game embedded below, or click here for the direct link. And as always, stay tuned for the AusGamers review, inbound like some impostor-crafted Batarang.

Gotham City Impostors fan-site "We Are Impostors" has just released a fan-made loadout build to help facilitate anyone who is currently playing in the console only beta, or for anyone who is interested in what weapons will be available to who.

It doesn't seem to be fully complete, as dual shockers state "...they took all the information available to us in the Beta as you can’t change your psyche profile or Rampage". Nonetheless, it serves as a useful tool and one that will most definitely be updated closer to release and afterwards.

Check out the loadout builder here, or leave us a comment below if your playing in the game and also check out our game page for more info and screenshots.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, or are just a fan of the direction the team are taking it in, we have a new 2D animated video for you today showcasing the humourous spin Monolith are injecting into the game, which pits two gangs -- the Jokerz and the Bats -- against each other in FPS arena combat.

Warner Bros. Interactive have given a release date greenlight to Gotham City Imposters, their team-based first-person multiplayer romp set in the Batman universe, but not starring Batman. We can expect the download-only title for all three platforms on January 11, 2012.
Gotham City Impostors is an original download-only first-person shooter where up to 12 players battle for control of an unhinged Gotham City overrun by Impostors inspired by the DC Comics characters Batman and The Joker. Gotham City Impostors is an online multiplayer game unlike any other, giving players the opportunity to engage in unconventional urban warfare as they personalize their own Impostors. At the recent 2011 GamesCom event in Cologne, Germany, Warner were offering a hands-on experience with their upcoming first person shooter, the rather offbeat Gotham City Impostors. In development at Monolith Productions [F.E.A.R., No One Lives Forever, Blood], Gotham City Impostors is a multiplayer-focused shooter wrapped in a light-hearted use of the Batman IP.
What Gotham City Impostors lacks in a maximum player limit, it more than makes up for in charismatic charm. Comparisons to Team Fortress 2’s humour are well founded, which is immediately evident in both the premise and presentation of the game. The idea is simple: a ragtag group of Gotham City inhabitants are keen to prove their worth as superhero replacements in a battle for control of the streets.
Read on for our complete hands-on impressions.

Gotham City Impostors is due on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in early 2012.

The gaming world is no stranger to the many comic book adaptations and various spinoffs that tend to grace our screens each and every year. Gotham City Impostors slots neatly into the spinoff category, but boasts a dark Team Fotress 2-type approach to multiplayer gaming with characters such as Justin the masochistic accountant, Megan the sadistic telemarketer and Joe the passive-aggressive plumber. Samantha Ryan, senior vice president of production and development at Warner Bros. had the following to say about the game:
“Gotham City Impostors blows apart expectations for superhero games with an exaggerated take on first person shooters, set in a part of the DC Universe players have never seen before. Monolith is creating a game that turns Gotham City upside down and we think fans are going to have a blast with this creative twist on multiplayer heroism and anti-heroism as they play up the classic rivalry between Batman and The Joker.”
We’ve embedded a rather amusing gameplay trailer for your viewing pleasure below and attached a bunch of screenshots to the Gotham City Impostors game page.
