Good talk and makes sense that constant/easy access to porn would cause the brain to adjust in how it processes pleasure and stimulation.

Presuming that humans evolved in a fully clothed society, of course...

This point really sums it up for me: (or in pictorial form)
The vague symptoms he gave out are symptoms typical of alternative medicine omni diseases. They are otherwise known as "The symptoms of life."

I bet they never had books either, but there's no anti-book foundation speakers giving speeches on how our genetic makeup isn't accustomed to handling that amount of awesome fiction... Wonder why. ;)

F*** it, porn folder gone.

Lately I've been having massive anxiety around girls whenever it gets to even a marginally sexual stage. As in, even a girl sitting with me, like, cuddled up on the couch watching T.V. My heart starts beating spastically, I find it hard to breathe and I can't think straight. Now there's a few guys on here that know me irl and they know that me saying this is pretty f***ed up.

I've never really been one to get anxiety or even feel it around women, I have no problem talking to random chicks or even getting numbers etc... but ever since I broke up with my long term missus, obviously my porn habits have increased and this anxiety has hit me out of no-where.

Maybe there's a correlation? Have no idea but maybe it's time for me to get rid of this s***.

tl,dr: I'm becoming less of a wanker.

Isn't that what usually happens when you detect a viable female? All thinking goes out the door and the only thoughts are "must reproduce". We'd like to think we're more evolved than cavemen

but we aren't.

Watched whole thing and im not convinced. If you watch some wierd porn heaps i can see your brain requiring the same stuff to turn you on IRL but considering they talked about other addictions like food/drugs that people consume often, i dont see any issue with watching porn a few times a week when there are plenty of people that reward themselves with food/drugs on a daily basis. Also, i assume most cases of porn addiction was single guys. How does being in a relationship change things?

My understanding is that the specific urge for weird stuff precedes the seeking of said weird stuff. I've never heard of anybody where their fetishes (the opposite sex, the same sex, shoes, etc) haven't been a lifelong ordeal.

Tbh I'm surprised at the lack of skeptical aversion to alternative-medicine level claims here, I'd at least wait for professionals giving this advice before taking it as in any way a likely pragmatic course of action. Particularly because he is the face of an anti-porn organisation... None of it holds up to me, we didn't have books/tv/music/encyclopaedias/safety/cars/etc back then either, and people would have been naked and athletic all the time. My understanding is that apes masturbate and f*** constantly, if anything we're less in our normal sexual setting right now.

Thats what i thought but i wonder what a moderate doses of porn is.

I checked out the reddit thread and the study of members and from memory the most common user was male, single, a virgin, who watches porn daily for an hour and has something like anxiety/depression/ED/PE prior to starting nofap.

I don't like anyone who says, "Porn changes attitudes towards women" and frames it in a negative light.

Modern society has never been as progressive on feminism as it is today. Of course there is still work to be done, but it just seems counter-intuitive to use that as an argument when discussing internet era (1980's onwards) access to porn and trying to make conclusions on that.

I generally agree with Nina Hartley when it comes to porn. I think she has it pretty much nailed.

Pun...intended!

At least 6 months now, I stopped counting after 90 days, which was the "reboot" that everyone was doing at the time.

I haven't had a regular GF for years, so after the first week I immediately started hunting the females like never before and everything developed from there.

If the end goal is to have more success with females and more sex, it definitely did its job. It's been a bit uncomfortable at times though because it has changed who I am in many aspects and problems have arisen in my life that wouldn't have been there otherwise.

This forum seems like a strange place to discuss it though, talking about masturbation with a bunch of male gamers, gross.

Came across a "no fap" thread on bodybuilding.com and they linked me to a site http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/. Stopped watching porn and stopped masturbating, 100%.

The most noticeable outcome was after about 1-1.5 weeks that I was more sociable with females than I had ever been in my life. I began taking immediate action and every opportunity that presented itself to interact and have sex with said females.

While that might not seem like much to some people, I have always been highly reclusive and relatively uninterested in pursuing anything socially, let alone with the opposite sex.

About 5 weeks in I stopped drinking alcohol/using drugs completely, while I don't know if I can attribute that entirely to the no fap, it definitely played a big part.

As time went on things just started to snowball and just about every aspect of my life has changed and here I am ~6 months later wondering how the f*** I arrived here.

Then I pop onto QGL tonight and it seems like the movement has found its way here.

Nothing directly attributed to it besides the vast array of withdrawal symptoms during the first month or two.

Life just became more complicated when I moved out of my comfort zone, I could have lived in that cocoon for the rest of my life no problem... it would have been easy and enjoyable.

I'm still new to all of this and not sure where it's exactly going, only time will tell.

Have you had corresponding improvements in the success of these female ventures? If so would you relate that to the no-fap, or just the fact that your trying every opportunity now (which is caused by the no-fap).

Also, the more I think about it, the more I think having 'favourite' porn movie etc... might be edging towards slight porn addiction. Maybe shows an emotional connection between yourself and the movie or the actresses presented, instead of porn being a means to an end?

I've never understood girls that get jumpy over porn or masturbation.

I think some girls like to think they are the be all and end all of pleasure. They are wrong.

If you are unable to satisfy your partner because you've been beating off to f***-tonnes of porn, then obviously that's going to create problems.

If you have a higher libido than your partner and can fulfill your needs via porn then that seems like a decent solution to me.

Does it need to be anymore complicated than that?

As for all this "I can't talk to females because I've been watching too much porn" I can't understand that at all.

Whatever works for you, do what you have to.

One thing I don't think anyone can argue with is that porn has given most people an excellent sex education. I believe all the "can't find the clitoris" jokes just don't apply to our generation because of it. Although I did have a god-awful blowjob once where the girl used her teeth a lot more than she should have. She would have benefited from some extra porn-viewing sessions.
