It's SIEGE time again!!!
It's about time we laid seige to the GCI Hotel again for some massive LANnage action. 2 Days, 5 Stars, 300 geeks and the usual swag of cash and great prizes.
Thus far the comps we're looking at include; Counter-Strike TFC Q3 Duels Raven-Shield Warcraft 3 and the maybes; Freelancer QWTF DOD NWN GTA:VC (Stunt Challenge) StarCraft: Brood Wars ... and in the main foyer will be a twin-play Daytona machine on freeplay all weekend! As well as the Xbox and PS2 cranking on the projectors. Go chk out the GameServe website for more details and keep your eye on it as we add more sponsors to the list! Rego's will be opening a few weeks before hand. |

We haven't decided on the War3 format. Depends on how well Frozen Throne has been accepted by then.
As to BF1942, there's not enough interest cause you need large teams and in the past we've only ever had 4 teams on the day... hardly worth comping. I forgot to mention also that the Hotel rooms wil be available for $120 per night twin-share. And don't make the mistake of rocking up and expecting the rooms to be available on the day, book in advance (or you might end up over at the back-packers :p). |

We have timeshare down the coast ... could prolly get a nice unit for like $60, between 5 ppl would be ok :) Timeshare rules, so cheap Go clubbing ... hmm :) |

Yeah, last year there were some seady lookin folks come Sunday morning :p but it's all fun.
We've also added to the list an old school game of Dungeon Siege. We did it once before and it had a fair participation, so we're gonna run it again. Also, we're looking at Wolf: ET as a possibility. |

They only have tfc comps so they can give $100 to each player of that same clan who do nothing but play tfc (the least popular of the team fortress mods). Why they do that, is beyond me! meester wolf needs to pull his thumb out and run a qwtf comp for win ;) |

wog, i was trying to pimp a QWTF comp to the sydney/melbourne players but it didnt take off like i thought it would... i think the travel is what put them off, so, maybe for the next seige it will be a bit more convenient for them.. but i dont know if it will happen for this seige..
this seige still going to rock however. |

i remember last siege we were chain pausing the server, it pissed off the other cs kiddies who we were playing against so much, they threatened to baesh us @ siege! It was funny to see the looks on their faces when they went to complain to the admins, the admins were all standing behind us watching us play, laughing their f***en heads off... i even think one of them was joining in ;) |

If there is a QWTF comp, I think one idea would be to have the teams being drawn randomly. i.e. Every player that is interested puts their name down and then teams of 8 are drawn out of a hat.
Advantages of this are: 1) Increased popularity because people will realise they could win prize money even if they've never played the game before. 2) A more even competition. Otherwise all the good players will make a team and steal all the phat loot. 3) A higher level of skill and gameplay because the better players in each team will only take a short time to give the not so good players hints and tips on how to play/what to do. Just an idea, I'm sure there are some dissadvantages to it too. |

1) It would be gay 2) Odds are you'd be nowhere near your team-mates, so it'd be a s*** team, no communication. 3) Half the fun is playing with your friends, if its random teams, that kinda kills that idea. 4) It would be gay |
