My random drugged out purchase arrived today. 30" Yamakasi IPS monitor. 2560x1600@60hz. http://i.imgur.com/6X8PIOB.jpg Package is complete with an external power transformer and they also included a plug adapter for the australian wall socket. http://i.imgur.com/kp9fyXd.jpg I pulled my 24" off the desk and put it beside for the size comparison and holy bats***, jebus. It's big! http://i.imgur.com/mwG18E4.jpg Plugged it in and my video card recognized it's capability and switched up to full res. Running on a NV670GTX and a quick test in Battlefield 3 was a dream. 2ms response time at 60hz. In game fps 60 solid at max res too. For a monitor from South Korea for $535 delivered. F*****g win! Only bad thing so far is the screen is quite hot to touch. Once I play with the colour strenth it may cool down a little. |
Should have invested in a vacuum cleaner :-)
Looks sweet though |
Why do you touch your monitor screen? Clean off the cum? (kidding)
Seriously tho - how is the colour reproduction - would it come up to the scratch of a Dell for photo editing? |
Didn't need to touch the screen to feel the heat coming off of it. In winter I won't need to use my aircon to stay warm.
Colour quality is great. Already tried several games and they all refresh beautifully; Tomb Raider, BF3, Arma 3, Minecraft ( like watching lego animate ). I'm very impressed with the quality so far. |
Looks nice, It will be unpleasent in summer by the sounds of it.
|
The biggest thing worrying me about these kinds of monitors is the dead/bright pixel warranty, have you done a dead pixel check?
|
The biggest thing worrying me about these kinds of monitors is the dead/bright pixel warranty, have you done a dead pixel check? a good question.. what's the warranty breakdown? (and btw how much and where from?.. but yeah - what's the warranty breakdown ) |
are you going to sell your Viewsonic 24" now? i'll give you $80 for it
|
This is the info the company has on yamakasiusa.com for all their monitors (though the Sparta model isn't listed on there):
http://yjholdings.esellersimg.co.kr/Yamakasi/Regulations-for-defective-pixels_maeum.jpg On their eBay/Amazon listings for the Sparta model it just says: * Yamakasi Defective standard monitor :Up 5 dead pixels are normal. These are not the reason of return or compensate. (LG A- Level Pannel) |
yeah it's the 300 Leonidas although why it's brushed aluminium beveling is different to the one parody has is probably mentioned in the original thread
|
The Leonidas is a different monitor. That website is the USA market stuff. I got direct from manufacturer in Korea.
This is the link for it.... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-30-Inch-Yamakasi-300-Sparta-Multi-HDMI-1-4a-2560x1600-S-IPS-Monitor-/140921798868?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D6331062749128421473%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D140921798868%26 |
BTW Viewsonic goes to bedroom for Xbox as it's got HDMI inputs.
I also received my RaspberryPI today too. It's HDMI connection is driving the 30" currently and actually does it quite well. But it's destined for a 10" touch screen for my car-pc build. |
How does the professional wok go?
|
Can we come over and have some of this stir-fry?
|
Nice purchase. Once you go 30" you'll never go back to a smaller monitor.
|
How long were you waiting for this sucker to arrive once you ordered it?
|
Only thing about the 30" that I didn't like was how small the font is in most games and you can't change it without altering the entire font size of the OS
Even then, some games don't support the font change, the steam app itself being one of them. :( Now I just content myself with complaining about getting whiplash looking from one side of my 3x 27" to the other. |
