Red Dead Redemption is by far the best open-world game to come along in a long time and has set itself as the standard by which all should follow. It's by no means the perfect game, but the sum of its emergent, engaging parts craft an experience like no other. It's also easily the most visually appealing game-world you'll have ever laid eyes on. Simply a must-buy...

Alan Wake Review (Score: 7.9/10)
XBOX360
Review by Steve Farrelly @ 12th May, 2010
When Remedy pitched Alan Wake as something of a television series handed to player's in episodic form, they weren't kidding. The game takes many cues from various films and TV series of the past; the kind that have reached plateaus of pure pop-culture benchmarks, and I'd be remiss to not mention the likes of Twin Peaks, X-Files, The Shining or even Evil Dead...

Whilst SSFIV doesn't technically broach any new ground per se, the improvements in multiplayer functionality alone provide reason enough to purchase this version. The extra characters, Ultra's and the inclusion of classic SFII Bonus Rounds are just the icing on the proverbial cake that is the best fighter around...

What do you do whilst waiting for Diablo 3? Probably pick up Torchlight actually. But if you are in the market for some Diabloesque lite action, then perhaps Din’s Curse is the answer.

West, meet East. East, meet West. Think Sergio Leone crossed with Takeshi Miike - such is the premise and direction for Ubisoft's pseudo sequel to Red Steel. More a re-imagining, Red Steel 2 takes the FPS and swordplay action of the original and ups the ante, with a greatly improved control set-up; allowing a seamless blend between gunslinging and the way of the warrior...

This is the best Monster Hunter game to date. It's not the largest, in terms of content, yet with oodles of high-rank event quests and the added bonus of 4-player co-op available in the free online mode, there are enough challenges in Tri to keep you coming back for months...

Although not perfect by any means, Settlers 7 is a great game, one that takes the familiar concepts defined by its predecessors and uses them to provide a more refined and focussed game that will no doubt please fans and newcomers alike.

For someone like me who doesn't quite have the patience for pure stealth games, Conviction strikes a nice balance between stealth and action.

So we come to Silent Hunter 5, our first underwater mission for three years, and a package that ups the ante in watery graphics as well as the ability (for the first time in the series) to tread the decks of your U-Boat and dock in first person mode.

The God of war is back, and Kratos is still pissed! This time, however, it's in HD. God of War III is an adrenalin-charged gameplay experience full of awesomely violent moments, a few random puzzles and plenty of action and gore with a great setting that offers some of the greatest set-pieces in gaming...
