Thanks to the likes of Intel’s 14nm Kaby Lake CPUs and NVIDIA’s GeForce 10 line of GPUs, notebook gaming has seen a sizable surge in the last year or so. And that comes down to the sort of hardware that is comparable to current desktop machines in terms of raw performance.

Review by Steve Farrelly @ 24th August, 2017
Yes, it’s action-fantasy. But the setting is modern and from what I know outside of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider is that modern treasure-hunters aren’t skilled killers. The meat of the game is in its core, but that core is overshadowed by an age-old digital arcade fallback in whipping out a gun and shooting it off.

The Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 provides an immersive surround sound gaming experience, one where you can clearly tell which direction sounds are coming from - with the 7.1 in the name referring to, you guessed it, surround sound.

Agents of Mayhem is Saints Row IV by the way of a Saturday morning cartoon. Crude, juvenile, profane, and often very funny.

There’s an air of confidence present in Enigma that was absent until the latter stages of Season One. It even manages to pack in multiple surprise twists and turns without feeling like obvious ways to ramp up the tension.

If you’re a fan of the Metroidvania experience then really, one look at Sundered should be enough to get you interested. The hand-drawn art and animation is often beautiful to look at, and the way in which it blends the industrial and gothic with fantasy and horror makes it all look quite unlike anything else currently available to play.

Redeemer leaves a great first impression, a feeling of visiting an arcade circa the early ‘90s and putting a few minutes into a cabinet featuring Final Fight or Double Dragon II.

The concept is simple enough, paint guns of different types used to not only shoot each other but also paint a map. Throw in the ability to transform into an Inkling and become one with the paint to move quickly around, and Splatoon features the sort of quick and easy-to-learn mechanics that are the hallmark of many a Nintendo classic.

With Codemasters back at the helm of the long-running franchise, one might expect a return to form for a series that has kind-of disappeared over the past few decades. Or at the very least, a nostalgic throwback to the original. Yeah, this is not that.

There’s enough story content here to provide an entertaining 30 or so hours of traditional RPG-like questing. And that’s traditional in the RPG sense, because you won’t find many or any ‘kill x amount of this’ or ‘collect x amount of this thing’ fetch quests with no real impact. Instead Morrowind presents characters, situations, and stories worthy of both the evocative setting, and the Elder Scrolls name.

If you’ve been following the game’s development over the course of the last couple of years, you might have heard Rime described as something along the lines of Journey meets The Legend of Zelda. In the age of comparative headlines and snappy sentences that does a perfectly fine job of setting the scene.
