Nintendo is seemingly in love with the 'shadow launch' idea, having today dropped a huge bombshell during its latest Nintendo Direct by revealing that the long-awaited Metroid Prime Remastered is available immediately in digital download from from the Ninteno eShop, with a physical edition of the re-release also coming to brick and mortar stores soon.

As per the video above, the remaster comes with a fully revamped control scheme, bringing the seminal title in line with modern first-person games, but also allows players to engage with a similar setup to the original release.

It's available right now for just under $60 dollarydoos, and we're already about a quarter of the way through the download, so will be sharing some impressions as soon as we can get down to Tallon IV and take out some space pirate trash.

What a glorious, glorious day it is to be a Nintendophile.

Nintendo also announced that physical copies of the game would be being released soon, though at the time of writing no official date has been revealed, so stay tuned.
