Atomic Heart is out February 21, 2023 - and it's a game we've been following closely (and anticipating its release) for a number of years. BioShock meets retro Russian futurism with fast-paced action and evocative art direction. Today's new 4K RTX-powered trailer from NVIDIA is fitting because Atomic Heart was one of the very first titles announced as supporting real-time ray tracing.

In fact it took the stage back at CES in 2019 as a showcase for ray-traced reflections and shadows. Fast-forward to 2022 and with DLSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and Reflex technologies making up DLSS 3 - this new look at a near-final version of Atomic Heart running on PC looks stunning. No doubt this is running on either an RTX 4090 or RTX 4080.

Set an alternate version of the 1950s, the story of Atomic Heart takes place in a Soviet Union in which robotics and other advanced technologies were developed during World War II. This world isn't so far removed from the ideals for which humanity is fighting today: a happy society, the power of science, perfect cities with green, sun-dappled parks and town squares, the automation of everyday life, the desire to explore the stars... these things could be right around the corner. But let's take a look at the dark underbelly of this ideal world — what if all this had already happened? And where could it lead?

The long wait is finally over, and even though the game is coming to Xbox Series X|S (and Xbox Game Pass) and PlayStation 5 - I'll be playing on PC with RTX On.
