Gears of War announcement
was made overnight with Netflix confirming that it will "adapt the video game saga into a live-action feature film, followed by an adult animated series, with the potential for more stories to follow".
With its description of "Delta Squad, a ragtag fireteam led by disgraced sergeant Marcus Fenix" it sounds like the events of the live-action film will follow those of the first game - or at least be inspired by. The artwork accompanying the announcement also features Marcus Fenix.
Currently, Xbox first-party studio The Coalition is developing Gears 6 using Unreal Engine 5 - and based on just how stunning Gears 5 still looks, it's set to be a visual showcase for the Xbox Series X. There's no word on when the next mainline game in the series will arrive, but there's a chance its release could line-up with Netflix's Gears movie.
