EA unveiled the big FIFA World Cup 2022 update coming to FIFA 23, free for all players to download on November 9 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. In addition to new stadiums, new cinematics, and new World Cup-themed visuals, there's also a very cool Tournament Mode to experience all the games from opening matches through to the final.

Play with actual line-ups, or mix and match to create your own World Cup with countries that may not have qualified. Games can be played offline and online - the latter featuring a detailed mode including all of the Knockout Stages as players choose from any of the qualified nations, effectively creating their own World Cup.

Running from November 21 through December 18, FIFA World Cup: Live will update alongside all the action.

“Every four years, the World Cup presents a unique opportunity to unite the world of football, and we’re thrilled to provide an immersive, hands-on experience to football fans across the globe,” said Nick Wlodyka, SVP, GM, EA SPORTS FC. “Our first ever football game was built around international football, and we’ve been building on that experience ever since. It’s amazing to see how fans truly experience the highs, lows, and everything in between that can only be felt when the whole globe unites through the world’s game.”

Of course, FIFA 23 is the final FIFA branded game from EA - with next year seeing the debut of EA Sports FC. And with that it definitely looks like EA is going all out with its final recreation of the World Cup.
