In
a recent YouTube interview PlayStation Studios boss
Hermen Hulst reconfirmed the company's commitment to releasing its exclusives on the PC platform, with roughly a year between their console and desktop debuts, respectively, but he also made mention that that might not always be the case, citing live service games as potentially releasing day and date with their console release.
"We'll see at least a year between releases on our own platform [PlayStation] and on the PC platform, possibly with the exception of live service games," he said. "Live service games are a little bit different in nature because you will have really strong communities; really strong engagement right away ... when you go live. So we might, in the case of our live service offerings, go day and date with PC."
Sony currently has plans for at least 10 live service games by 2026 (thanks,
PC Gamer), which in the context of the above, and what we've already seen in terms of its bolstered commitment to PC through the likes of first-party releases in
Horizon Zero Dawn,
God of War PC and
Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, bodes well for an even more expansive community of dedicated Sony fanpeeps moving forward, which can be viewed as either awesome, or terrifying -- you decide.
