Ubisoft's high seas open world pirate ship action game Skull and Bones has seen seen several delays over the years, including a complete reboot, but with the game making a surprise return this year - the long-awaited release was set for November. Today comes word that the game is being delayed once more, with the release date now set for March 9, 2023.

In a statement Ubisoft wrote, "Our team is hard at work polishing and balancing the experience ahead of the worldwide launch. As a result, we’ve made the tough decision to move our release date to March 9, 2023. We’re very eager for you all to get your hands on Skull and Bones and dive in headfirst to the dangerous and exciting world of building your own pirate empire. To give you the best possible experience we’ve decided to take a little more time to make sure we can deliver exactly that."

The official Skull and Bones Twitter account also made a statement, citing "feedback received during our various technical tests and insider program" as the reason for the delay and the need to take a bit of extra time to polish and balance the game. Plus, confirming that an Open Beta is coming soon.

The game is still headed to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S and for more info on the game be sure to check out our in-depth feature from the game's recent reveal.
