Atomic Heart from developer Mundfish is a title we've been following closely for good reason - the sci-fi first-person action RPG set in an alternate history futuristic Soviet Union of the 1950s looks amazing. Today comes word that Focus Entertainment will be publishing the game on consoles and PC, though the planned 2022 release has been pushed back.
"Initially planned for 2022, the hectic and explosive Action-RPG is set to release this winter," writes Focus Entertainment's statement pointing to an early 2023 release window. "Polishing and delivering a game of the highest quality is the priority of this talented team, with a specific launch date to be announced shortly."
And yeah, we can't wait for this one. The latest Combat Trailer from Gamescom 2022 is a great look at the game's setting, tone, robotic enemy designs, and ability-based action. Hype!
A system failure at Soviet Facility № 3826 leads machinery to rebel against the people. You are Major P-3, Private Agent, and your task is to minimize the consequences of this 'systems failure' and prevent the leakage of classified information.
To succeed, you'll have to do your homework and study every deadly foe to avoid becoming their next victim, for secret experiments have led to the emergence of terrifying mutants, implacable machines, and bloodthirsty creatures.
"Five years ago, when we founded the studio, we set ourselves the goal of creating a world-class product that could be appreciated by millions of people all over the world,” said Robert Bagratuni, CEO of Mundfish. “And now, when the stakes are as high as ever, we are finally ready to release the momentum we have been accumulating over these years. We couldn’t be happier to head to the release with such an experienced publisher, and we have no doubt that Focus Entertainment will make the upcoming game launch truly outstanding."
“It’s an honor to collaborate with a studio as talented as Mundfish,” says Julien Ramette, Chief Business Development Officer at Focus Entertainment. “We were amazed by Robert and his teams’ creative minds as soon as we started exchanging. The AAA standards they’ve provided for their first game is truly an accomplishment. Atomic Heart is sure to honor all players in search of an original, new generation experience.”
