With the Mafia series celebrating its 20th Anniversary, as part of a new celebration looking back at the franchise Hangar 13 General Manager Roman Hladík confimed that a new game in the series, Mafia 4, is currently in development.

"I'm happy to confirm we've started work on an all-new Mafia project!", Roman Hladík says. "While it's a few years away and we can't share anything more right now, we're really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories."

The full interview is a great look back at the series - so be sure to check it out here.

With the original game receiving an impressive remake in 2020's Mafia: Definitive Edition, it'll be interesting to see when the new game will be set. With the series covering the 1930s, 1950s, and 1960s, revisiting any of those periods would suit - or the team could be looking at something a little more modern like the 1980s or even 1990s. Mafia has always been something of a period crime saga, so odds are it won't be a modern-day mobster tale.

Either way, more Mafia is great news - and we'll be following this one closely.
