And you might make as much sense of our headline as you will the Gamescom "release date trailer" from the game's publisher, 110 Industries, and its developer, Soleil. And with a team made up of people who worked on other equally OTT action joints such as Dead or Alive and Valkyrie Elysium, among others, that's entire okay, because at the end of the day these sorts of games are about indulgence and in Wanted: Dead, that looks to be the entire design mandate.

Here's what's officially come across our desk on the game:
Developed by Japanese studio Soleil, Wanted: Dead exhibits a brutal blend of merciless melee sword combat, thrilling gunplay and a unique limb severing system to deliver a deep action title inspired by the mechanically rich combat systems found in titles like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Players will take on the role of Lt. Hannah Stone, stepping into a dark and dangerous vision of cyberpunk Hong Kong as leader of the “Zombie Squad”, an elite team who work outside the purview of the traditional police force. You will fall head over heels for Stone’s superior hack-n-slash combat skills that combine style and substance, delivering cool slow-motion sequences and bone-shattering, limb severing mechanics.

Take the battle to your opponents with a crazy mix of advanced weaponry and lo-tech 90s retro-futurism, dealing devastating damage using projectile weapons such as assault rifles, SMGs, LMGs and grenade launchers. This is a truly hardcore experience and the fights will not be easy. Test your mettle and use every technique you have as you battle through hordes of mercenaries, synthetics and private security forces.

Prepare for a date with death on Valentine's Day 2023 and take a stop at the Atomic Heart diner. Slowing things down from the adrenaline-pumping combat, the diner provides a place for Lt. Stone to relax and recharge as she consumes food and drinks for buffs that will help her on her deadly missions while giving us players the chance to get to know the eccentric cast of characters that comprise her team.
Wanted: Dead is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S February 14, 2023.
