The question of when
Valve's
Steam Deck will officially make its way to Australia remains exactly that. But with news that the handheld PC gaming device is coming to Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan later this year - hopefully, that means a down under launch will follow.
Distributing the Steam Deck to these new markets Valve is partnering with Komodo, and shipments will start to roll out in Japan first with Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan to follow in the weeks following that debut. “We hope that gamers in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan agree with us that the performance and design of the Steam Deck makes it a great way to play the games they know and love,” said Gabe Newell, President and CEO of Valve.
Komodo distributed the Valve Index in the region so the partnership makes a lot of sense. “We are very excited to be working with Komodo to bring Steam Deck to Asia. We have worked with the team at Komodo for years, and we have high confidence that they'll help us make customers very happy,” added Greg Coomer of Valve.
With the Steam Deck en route, it'll also be making an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show next month.
