Escape from Tarkov has made a name for itself in the FPS space with its gritty action, looting, and extraction setup. Developer Battlestate Games is looking to expand the game with the announcement of Escape from Tarkov Arena a standalone arena-style shooter that will focus on "gladiatorial battles in various arenas of the city of Tarkov".
The studio notes that the "hardcore game mechanics of Escape from Tarkov" will remain in-tact so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out with an arena format. Which we can see glimpses of in the following trailer.
Escape from Tarkov Arena is a standalone game project - a session-based multiplayer first-person shooter for PC with all the known and beloved hardcore game mechanics of Escape from Tarkov.
Players will take part in gladiatorial battles in various arenas of the city of Tarkov, organized by a mysterious group of Arena Masters led by the Host.
The game will feature various PvP and PvE game modes, ratings, weapon and gear unlocks and unique features for owners of the main Escape from Tarkov game, like the ability to play as your main profile character.
Interestingly it's set to feature PVE in addition to PVP, which sounds very cool. Also owners of premium Escape from Tarkov packs will get the game as DLC in addition to it being sold separately. Testing is scheduled to begin later this year.
