Wadjet Eye Games' Unavowed from 2018 was not only a brilliant traditional point-and-click adventure, but it was also one of the best games to come out that year, period. Full stop, and all that. Old Skies is the latest game from the team, and it's a time-traveling adventure (and a point-and-click) with a story that spans hundreds of years.

Plus, you'll take on the role of a time cop of sorts. Like in that Van Damme movie, but presumably with fewer splits. Set in New York City some of the time periods you'll visit include the Prohibition era, the Gilded Age (which is old timey and then some), and even the morning of September 11, 2001.

Check it out. Apparently the native 1080p visuals present a three-times increase in resolution over Unavowed. Oh, and yes, that's Unavowed's composer Thomas Regin returning to provide the music.

In this point-and-click, you play Fia Quinn, a time agent for the ChronoZen agency. Your job is to keep close watch on seven travelers who have the desire (and the bank accounts) to sightsee in the past. Some are simply curious. Others have unfinished business to resolve. And they’ve all put down a lot of money for the trip, so it’s vital that you keep them happy while ensuring they follow the rules. But what could go wrong? It's only time travel, after all.

Puzzles will of course incorporate time travel as part of the solution, "temporal thinking" according to the game's press release. Not only that but this will be an adventure game where you can die, but instead of loading up an old save file ala a classic Sierra adventure from the 1980s the nature of time-travel means you'll be able to try again. Very cool.

Be sure to wishlist this one on Steam, and stay tuned there as a playable PC demo is coming as part of Steam Next Fest on June 13. Old Skies is also coming to Nintendo Switch.
